I was reorganizing my recorded tv storage onto a larger disk. I did so by just copying the files from the old recordedtv disk to the new one. I made the mistake of pointing nextpvr at the new disk before all the files were copied, and so the automatic cleanup thought the files were gone (which they were temporarily) and removed them from the database, as expected.

I've been trying to get them loaded back into the database without success. Using the export/import process only gets the few files that are in the database, which I'm guessing were the only ones copied when the database cleanup ran.

I found some other threads on here with bat files and powershell scripts but they did not work either.

Is there a way to make nextpvr read all of the files in the recordedtv folder and add them to the database? They are all .ts files that were recorded by nextpvr.

Thanks for any help anyone can offer. Logs attached.

Matt

If you've still got a C:\Users\Public\NPVR-data\recording-backup.xml file with your files in it, take a copy of the file, then edit the file to correct the paths to the recordings, then use the Import Recordings feature to import the xml file.

The export only has about 8 files out of 376 files. That's what's causing me the issue. I see these few files in the recorded tv list in kodi, but I don't see the other 300+ files. The path to the recordings didn't change, it's just a new hard drive.

The scripts I found promised to scan the recorded tv files and create the XML file that I could import, but they didn't seem to recognize the .ts files and just said they were skipping them and it skipped them all.

Do you have the old npvr.db3 file?

How many days ago did you do this? The file that sub is referring to isn't a "new" manual export. It is one which gets created automatically by the system each time the EPG update runs.

It creates a couple of backups too, so you should hopefully have recording-backup.xml, recording-backup.xml.1 and recording-backup.xml.2...which hopefully covers the last three days (unless you've been manually updating the epg, causing files to be overwritten).

Thanks for clarifying that. I do have the .1 and .2 files but it looks like they were overwritten. I don't have an older copy of the database file. I have now set up backups of nextpvr, but too late for this. I've learned a lesson for the next time I have to replace a disk! Thank you for your help.

My NextIimport utility will scan your recording folder and import any old files. The metadata would be limited to the filename information.

Just now getting back to this. I tried NextIimport but it failed with an Object not found error. I've pretty much given up on reloading my old files and I'll chalk it up as Lesson Learned.

Thanks so much for your help. Now I know what not to do if I move the files again!

You probably didn't install NextImport according to the directions or used the wrong command, but if you don't need the recordings that is fine too.
