I'm still seeing some shows stuttering quite badly after the last couple of updates, when using the NextPVR.exe client, to the point that they are unwatchable.  They play fine in VLC and Kodi.  I've posted a short chunk of one of files that stutters the worst at https://www.dropbox.com/s/79n4qq9719aef7...nk.ts?dl=0

I've reinstalled NPVR and LAV 0.75.1, but no joy.

I can also send logs, if they're helpful.

Thanks!

The file itself looks fine.

I had a quick play through the file in nextpvr.exe, but can't see any obvious problems. Are you seeing the problem in certain parts of the file, all through it?

Thanks sub, that particular file barely plays at all in nextpvr.exe here. I hear a voice, then everything freezes for a second, then the video jumps ahead and there is some more sound, then it freezes. After 5-10 seconds, the video smooths out, but the audio is out of sync. Other recordings are slightly better, but they will get the audio and video out of sync after a commercial jump. Sometimes I can click the back button and that will resync it, other times I have to stop the video and resume, then it's fine until the next jump. Sad

It might be something flaky in my LAV setup, but I've uninstalled it and reinstalled it (with settings reset) and it seemed OK for one show, then the bizarre behavior starts up again. This all seemed to start right after the NPVR update a couple of weeks or so ago. (10/3 perhaps?).

Are there any logs from NPVR or LAV that could help pinpoint what is going on? CPU and GPU usage are very low, so it doesn't seem to be a resource problem.

Thanks!

I don't think it is NextPVR.exe That chunk is definitely odd in my experience ffprobe reports it starting 36 seconds in and when I play in the new Android client, I do need a skip to get it playing.

OK, I shot video with my phone of the TV while I played the first 90 seconds or so of the video clip that I uploaded earlier.  I've uploaded the video from the phone here:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/mktn5h5gmet7re...7.mp4?dl=0

Also attaching the logs of that playback from NPVR.

Is there any other info that I can send?  I don't see any logs for LAV in its program files or AppData folders.

Thanks!

Thanks Martin, what's odd is that it plays fine using Kodi (use sub's NPVR client for Kodi) and VLC, both locally on the server and remotely from another PC in the house.

I would expect that since it would play through a remux in Kodi and VLC. If you take your sample and remux it with ffmpeg -i filename -codec copy harry.ts and that file will play in NextPVR too.

In looking through all of the various settings, I see that the video type is listed incorrectly for many of my channels.  Comcast switched a lot of my channels over to h.264 a few years ago (while I was still on version 4 of NPVR) and I had to go in and manually change a setting on each of those channels so that they would playback correctly.  My HDHomeRun Prime now shows that all of my channels are h.264 (at least I think that's it.  It shows "AVC" beside all of the channels that I subscribe to).  Does that make any difference in V5?
I don't see any way to edit those settings in V5.

For the most part, this doesn't matter. If you're seeing any video with those channels, then it is correctly detecting the type.
