Greetings from a Newbie!
Installed NextPVR a few days ago on Win10 laptop to check it out
Looking for replacement to WMC (Win7 PC w/4 tuners "died").  Primary use/need is to watch and record OTA TV to view locally (one device).  Must work while on back-up generator power (i.e., NO internet or utility power).  WMC worked fine until PC bricked...  Tried PLEX but it was not working well for OTA TV.  Was referred to NextPVR by MovieWiz (assuming member with that name here is same person!).
For now (testing while we work on replacement PC) using ThinkPad i7, M 620 @2.7Ghx, 8GB RAM w/Hauppage WinTV DuaHD usb tuner.  Using my Schedules Direct acct for EPG.  Browser = Firefox, Installed Lav decoders.   Using Windows Client to watch TV.

Problems:
1.     Had client running last night.  Set up to record multiple programs on two channels (ChA: 8-10pm; ChB: 8:30-9, 9-10, and 10-11) while watching one of the programs (ChA 8-10) live.  Client was left running for the night on ChA.  This am client was locked at what seemed to be end of last scheduled recording (ChB).  All scheduled recordings seem to have completed (haven’t watched them yet) but live TV was stuck with screen showing what appeared to be 11pm news (i.e. after stop of last recording on ChB).  Went to MainMenu in client, Guide, selected different channel and LiveTV started up.
2.     Have been watching LiveTV since and it has stalled/locked up at least once so far requiring that I go back to the Guide and reselect the channel to watch.
Any thoughts on what is going on or what I need to do different??  Log attached – hopefully I did it right!

Operations Questions:
1.     When viewing TV on the Win Client, is there a way to look at the guide without losing live TV?  So far all my attempts cause live tv to stop and then restart.  Only way I have found so far is to open the browser and look there.  Same question regarding peeking at available recordings while viewing TV in the client without losing what I’m currently watching (and the ability to rewind a bit if needed).
2.     EPG seems “brief” (just over a day) compared to what I was use to with WMC (couple of weeks).  Guide only seems to go out about a day or so and then either there is a black area for some channels or all show “no listings”.  Makes it difficult to schedule recordings!  Yes, auto update is set and scheduled for 4am but perhaps its not updating?  Or there is a setting I need to tweak?  (see screenshots but not sure that file attached!)
3.     Are the “skip forward” and “skip back” times adjustable?  Forward seems to be about 60 sec, back about 20, when using the mouse and >| or |< onscreen button but if using the right or left keyboard arrows it seems to be about 10 sec each direction.

Press F1. You can also press Up/Down keys to bring up the mini guide for a quick list of what is on other channels, and to help changing channels.

Are you Schedules Direct for you guide data? If so, it should give you up to about 2 weeks of listings, with lots of details.

It sounds like you're using the default DVB/ATSC EPG, which is notoriously crappy in North America. ie, brief descriptions, no season/episode info etc, and typically a day or sometimes less of listings.

Yes, these can be tweaked in config.xml.

Ctrl-Right is 60 seconds forward.
Ctrl-Left is 30 seconds back
Right is 10 seconds forward
Left is 10 seconds back.

You can prefix the Ctrl-Left/Right with a number if you want to jump that number of minutes. ie, if you want to jump 4 minutes back, type 4 then press Ctrl->Left.

Thanks SUB!
Tried the CTRL-Left/Right with number and it works great! As does F1.

Regarding EPG, I entered my SchedulesDirect info and logged in and have updated multiple times. But I agree, seems like I'm not getting the SD guide... is there a way to check/confirm that I'm actually connected to my SD? (FYI, my current SD subscription is good thru end Jan

On the Settings->Channels screen check what is says in the EPG Source column. If it isn't Schedules Direct on that same screen click the Advanced Tools button and click Automap then pick the three choices for your device.

Thanks Martin - think that was the problem (or big part of it). Wasn't showing Schedules Direct. Changed it and just updated EPG. Now have a weeks worth of listings (thru Nov 3) but after that still showing no listing. But a week is better than a day! Thanks again.

The overnight EPG update will give you another week for many channels.

It can be a relatively slow process to pull down two weeks of listings from Schedules Direct, so I had the interactive 'update epg' button just grab a week of listings. (mainly thinking of the user setting it up for the first time)

The automated overnight EPG grabs two weeks, since it can take longer without a user sitting there waiting.

These number of days can be tweaked in config.xml if required though.

EPG updated overnight and now have 2wks!

Does Windows client have a "timeout" setting causing LiveTV to stop playing? Or can you set it up to always stay open/running?
