Thinking of using a small touch screen mounted in the wall in the kitchen (somewhere) to access GBPVR. Anyone any experience of how the touch screen would integrate/operate?

Touch screen side of things is USB.

the touch screens i am familiar with, just emulate mice. by touching a point on the screen, you 'click' it (or begin to drag, if you keep your finger on the screen).

for the menus and most plugins, this will be sufficient, but i see a problem in live tv or other plugins which are controlled with the keyboard/ir remote.

I have a touch screen. The only thing I cant seem to controll is scrolling. When in the main menu I can not scroll down to access other items, the software for the controller you are looking at may be diffrent allowing that function. It works for recorded tv and videoes if you place your finger toward the center of the screen the mouse menu pops up and you can acess fast foward, pause, play, etc but this will not work for live tv. This might be a consideratin for sub, we would only need scroll butuns in the various menus as well as a pop up mouse controll for live tv to get it into timeshift mode so that the play ff pause menu can be accessed.
Also another consideration, do you have a compuer in your kitchen? You are limited to cable lengths on the usb as well as the vga, there are ways to extend over cat5 but its pricey.
hope that helps

Hi there

Did you manage to get this sorted. This is my exact plan, 7" touch screen in the kitchen with a mini PC hidden away under a cabinet (with ventilation)

Not sure which touch screen to buy, but looking at a Lilliput screen onto serial at present. I presume that is mouse touch logic as well.

Plan is, small form factor PC linked to touch screen, back up of wireless keyboard and mouse i suspect.

Any help or advice on doing this would be much appreciated.

i was actually looking at something similar... touschscreen... except in my car. Big Grin

obviously i don't need the pvr functions in the car, but audio and video playback could be good... but without the ability to scroll thru the menus and file lists, i can't use it at all. Sad if i try to click on the arrows on the main menu or near the lists that DO have arrows, it thinks i clicked on the last item in the list, closest to the arrow... which isn't what i wanted.
