Dowload older image of NPVR?

Hi Folks,

is there somewhere i get an older image of NVPR? i am specifically looking for 5.1.4.210802 for windows.

in the newer versions the config setting <SortChannelGroups>false</SortChannelGroups> does not work, and my groups get sorted alphabetically.

i had the same issue when i updated a few docker boxes earlier this year, but was able to restore the functionality by restoring a kodi backup taking me back to older docker image version, and I  just stopped updating to newer releases after that and all was good, i could delete NVPR DB, clear out delete / recreate Kodi TV DB and reload my M3u at will (i do that once a week during the football season, so i can see what matches are on as my provider updates the channel name rather than putting it in epg), in the version noted above (and earlier versions) the setting is always respected with groups sorted in the order i configured them, however, over the holidays i had some issue with my main windows back-end server that feeds multiple boxes around the house. no stream would work, so i ran the installer again to try and fix. turns out i didn't have issue with NPVR as streams were still not working and all i needed to do was reboot my router Doh!

now i am on a newer version and all my groups that i painstakingly ordered in my m3u are alphabetical :-(

i tried looking on github to see if i could find an older release but alas either i don't know where to look, or there are not any i can grab on there.

any advise would be most appreciated.

Sorry, we don't have any older version to give you. We only keep the current version.

I just checked the <SortChannelGroups>false</SortChannelGroups> though, and it does seem to be working here. You edited c:\users\public\NPVR-data\config.xml right?

If you use some SQLite tool to run the following, does it return the groups in the order you expected?

That is effectively what NextPVR runs. If <SortChannelGroups>true</SortChannelGroups>, then it sorts them.

thanks for the reply sub, yes i edited in that path.

been a while since i looked in the DB with a tool, i am sure i have one on my PC but cant recall what it is named - i think it was something i just ran from a folder with the db file copied to that folder. i i will have a look round and try running that command. Thanks!

***UPDATE***

so i found the tool, helpfully named SQLiteDatabaseBrowserPortable !!

i ran the command and yes, they show in the order i set in my M3u file...

What sort order do you expect when it is false? Unsorted it is kind of arbitrary FIFO, since the groups don't get deleted. That is why in the thread for Kodi I told you I would need NextPVR to provide the priority with the channel group name to allow consistency.

i am looking for the groups to be in the order they appear in my M3u. i have all the channels in the order i browse, (matching, or at least similar with a couple of enhancements) to my cable box, and the groups follow that. for example UK group / channels are at the top, then below that sky movie channels that are in sky movie group and so on, so using it is very intuitive, if i want to jump to a group it appears in the group list where i would expect it based on the order i have my channels. it has been working flawlessly like this for a long time. i scrap my nvpr and kodi dbs weekly so i get up to date channel names for the football, importing my m3u as a fresh new device, but when using the more newer images, the groups are alphabetic. on the older images it doest happen. i have the latest client (or at least Kodi doesn't suggest it needs updating, and auto update on my other addons is working)

i can work around it by taking a kod with docker back up i have from on older CE non NG image,  and importing to an old s912 device i have deleting the NVPR and kodi dbs and importing fresh up to date m3u to NVPR, and use that as back end, but i guess i am leaving that as a last resort, as although it works just fine, channel switching and epg updates is much slower than my PC

With <SortChannelGroups>false</SortChannelGroups> you should be getting them the order they were created in the database.

That is what I thought but as I mentioned if groups change or are added manually, or tuners get added, that list will not be same as the m3u.  It seems you are in control of the m3u which would make a difference many users won't see that.  The best choice would be for sub eventually to add a priority to the group list.

Alternatively name them 01 --, 02 --- etc and both Kodi and NextPVR will work.

Honestly, I'd say the majority of people will be happy with alphabetical order, and if you need them in a specific order just name them in a way that'll order them how you want.

It's not worth making this stuff too complicated behind the scenes and needing to allow reordering etc.

i found i still had a macrium backup on my PC from before i upgraded so have been able to roll back and have kodi show groups in the order i set in my M3u again.
