Unusual artwork

Using Windows 11 and the latest NextPVR, but probably earlier versions as well, I get some unusual artwork.
At the moment, for example 'Harry Potter 3' on TVNZ2, the image is for Quantum of Solace. For 'Attenborough's The Mating Game' on TVNZ1 I get something called Innocent. For 'My Best Friends Wedding' I might get My Best Friends Wedding, but the poster is, I think, in Russian.
And of course quite a lot are fine and quite a few have no image at all.
Just though I'd mention it and I realise its a pretty difficult thing to do, but even though Harry Potter 3 is called that and not Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban' I struggle to se a connection to Quantum of Solace.
I'd also rather have a picture I can correct if wrong rather than nothing at all.

This isn't an answer to your question, but just a comment as what you describe is one of the reasons I can't be bothered with artwork on a media centre.

Even when the artwork is right, I don't see the value, but when it is wrong it's annoying. Certainly not a NextPVR issue. I once knew someone who would spend hours every week fixing the artwork in his XBMC setup. That fact that NextPVR has a clean user friendly UI was a big appeal. Glad that art free menus remains an option.

Hope you get it sorted. I suspect the answer will be to use an EPG service like Schedules Direct.

Definitely good meta data with the film's year helps but there are some weird matches from tmdb at times. For 1984 I get Wonder Woman 1984 because I think NextPVR matches tmdb return order over a perfect name match when the year is the same.

If you delete media/shows/Harry Potter 3* from the NextPVR program folder is this repeatable?

Do you have TheMovieDB and TVMaze ticked on the Settings->General page?

Thankfully I still had these shows in the guide from last night. I just checked, and it did ok job artwork. (it used TheMovieDB)

If you delete those files from your C:\Users\Public\NPVR-data\media\shows directory, does it get the same incorrect artwork when you retry? If it's still incorrect, untick TVMaze, delete the those files and try again to see if it improves. In theory you should get exactly the same artwork as I do.

I just noticed you also mentioned My Best Friend's Weeding to, so I checked that as well.

I'm definitely thinking you should try unticking TVMaze to see if it helps.

First off, should mention I'm using the second newest NextPVR. Sorry, didn't notice two releases 8 days apart.
Also I have Schedules Direct ticked and The MovieDB ticked and TVMaze unticked. Don't think I've ever changed those.
Not sure if it looks at those in order ? Also I don't actually have Schedules Direct at all (you know, its NZ after all..)
If I delete HP3 will it redo it as its now of course in the past ? That and other HPs were actually added Oct/Nov last year. Most of them are actually Harry Potter images, but most are HP and the Goblet of Fire, regardless of the actual movie.
I thought I'd try updating The Mating Game, so I got rid of the images and did a guide refresh, but now I have no images - I guess I should have got rid of the xml as well ? Getting rid of the xml then going to the program made the xml reappear but still no images.

It wont use Schedules Direct since your listings aren't coming from there.

Yes. When it next needs artwork, it'll go looking for it again.

I don't have these other Harry Potter movies in my guide, so can't easily check this. Assuming you've recorded them, if you want to PM me a download link to your npvr.db3, I'm happy to check them, and improve the logic if necessary

I'm also happy to look at the logs for it trying to download a specific show that works for me, but not for you, so we can compare what's different.

- in that case shouldn't it have added new The Mating Game artwork after I deleted the originals, as there's no image when I look at next Sundays episode and nothing in Media > Shows except the xml which it did just recreate.

I haven't recorded any of those programs (thats what blurays are for...), but can still upload the db to OneDrive or whatever its called if you want.
