I realize that I'm likely screwed; just confirming.

I recently clean upgraded to v5 (5.2.6 220206) from v4 (and I do mean clean). I use an XML enhancer to modify movie titles in the EPG. For example, I don't see "Wayne's World 2" in my EPG; I see "Wayne's World (1992) [PG-13] [2.5*] (1992)". Not so important for that rather unique movie, but for unknown movies or movies like "The Day the Earth Stood Still" or "The Taking of Pelham 123", it makes a big difference that I'm completely enamored with. I can see a lot about the movie in the EPG grid without even selecting it.

For a long time in v4, the title modifications did not affect the downloading of artwork files for movies. That all changed at some point late last year, very likely related to the nebulous SchedulesDirect changes mentioned by sub in this thread.

Now in v5, all I get for movies with those enhanced titles is the generic "starry forest sky" art in both the web client and the regular Windows client.

I have the settings configured to use SchedulesDirect, themoviedb.com, and tvmaze.com. Manually searching themoviedb.com for "Wayne's World 2" (of course) returns art, but "Wayne's World (1992) [PG-13] [2.5*] (1992)" returns nothing (to be expected).

I really enjoy the additional information in the title, and if it borks the ability to download art for those movies, I guess that's a fair tradeoff.

Any comments? Funny how it used to work fine before SchedulesDirect did their thing...

For movies, can you not add that junk information to the subtitle?

Also maybe avoid adding the movie year to the title since NextPVR does that for you.

Also since you are using XMLTV and not Schedules Direct you are missing on SD art downloading. NextPVR should be getting one image if the XMLTV contains an icon from the Deferred Art.

It might be worth seeing your zipped logs to see what is going on with the unique_id. Can you show the XMLTV source for one of these?

The way that you are getting data from SD, but then manipulating it into an XMLTV file for import into NextPVR isn't really ideal. There is a lot of "behind the scenes" stuff that NextPVR does when the EPG source is SD directly. This includes getting the specific art for each show/movie and getting it fast from SD servers. I'm pretty sure that with your method, you're loosing out on that--as evidenced by the fact that you're not getting the proper art for movies.

I would tend to agree with Martin that the approach of modifying the actual title field for an EPG entry is probably not the best way to go since it has additional consequences. But, if you really want to do that, another method that some users have taken is to use the PostUpdateEPG script to execute a SQL command which will update the Title field. This approach keeps the link to the SD source and all of the benefits of SD as your guide source.
