Kodi client enable direct streams

I was wondering what the "enable direct streams" option does in Kodi client. 

I thought it might take Server CPU Use down but seems to have no effect.

I am hoping sub can eliminate this confusing sub-forum, as there are dedicated forums for all the other clients like Kodi and I want the information kept together. In fact there is already a thread in Kodi support if you used a forum search https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php?tid=62309

It does bypass NextPVR completely and opens streams faster, but you lose timeshifting, max connections in NextPVR aren't respected, and you don't have multi-rec (same stream to multiple clients). I keep one tuner on an HDHR I have open for this.

I could fully automate it but there hasn't been enough interest but I do have a python script that creates the required file.
