Hi all,

I have just retired my Intel NUC and done a fresh install of NPVR 5.2.7 on a MeLe Quieter3 with Win 11 Pro.  A couple of issues have cropped up and I would appreciate any guidance as to how to sort them out.

I am using the NPVR Win client and when I access the Settings screen on my TV in native 3840x2160 it is all scrunched up.  If I switch the display mode to 1920x1080 it displays correctly.  See screenshots here :

Is this an NPVR or a PC issue?

When watching recordings or live TV with the EVR renderer specified, parts of the screen seem to lag behind and come detached then catch up (poor description I suspect but I hope you can see what I mean).  If I switch to VMR9 it all seems a lot smoother but I never had issues using EVR on the NUC.  Again, is this an NPVR or a PC issue?

I suspect I know the answers but would appreciate any thoughts. Thanks.

Stanno

Did you change Ui Resolution in settings? If you can't see it, you can change to this in config.xml

<UiResolution>3840x1080</UiResolution>

Hi Martin, thanks for the suggestion.

That was set to Auto. I amended it as you suggested but the settings window was till displaying incorrectly.

It probably relates to this message https://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.ph...#pid567129 and the answer for you would be to temporary use the lower res.

I am not a techie so sorry if this is a daft comment but that post refers to not displaying properly on low resolutions whereas my problem is not working at high resolutions? As you say, I can switch temporarily and, as sub said in the other thread, you don't need to go in there very often.

Thanks for your input.

NextPVR was designed for standard HD. Often in programming you need to consider low and high limits, so to me it is the same problem just the other end.

It's a known bug with screens that are in high DPI mode. Thankfully you'll very rarely have to go into that setting screen, so for now just set it to 1920x1080 temporarily so you can see that screen correctly. There isn't much you'd need to set in that screen.

Usually, I'd suggest EVR and the LAV decoders.

Also, set the audio renderer to default. Some of audio renderer options can cause weird timing during playback. It could be related to what you're seeing.

If you're still having issues, maybe check the CPU usage during playback. Possibly a case of the Celeron processor your machine not keeping up with 4K.

Hi,
I am still having issues with video quality.  As mentioned in my opening post, when I have windows set to the TV's native resolution (3840x2160) the bottom left corner of the picture tears away from the rest of the screen then joins back up.    If, however, I play the same video (.ts) at the full resolution using full screen with the Win11 Media Player app, it plays perfectly.
I have switched the resoltion to 1280x720 and this "tearing" has stopped but I would like to use the TV in native resolution if at all possible.
I have just played the same video at both resolutions and the log files are attached.
Any further thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Stanno

Can you post a screenshot showing this tearing?

There was an issue with Intel video drivers breaking up in the bottom left of the video playback. This may be what you were describing. It was a driver bug, and happened on any application that would overlay OSD graphics on video.
