I'm not sure what I did to make this happen, but starting a couple of days ago, the recording playback on my TV (via MVP) is too wide and the image is distorted.

For example, the channel logo that normally appears on the bottom right corner of broadcasts is partially off of the screen. It effectively makes people look a little too short and fat.

The image used to be ok, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what I did to "break" this.

Any ideas?

Just for kicks, 'reset' your MVP. Pull the power and plug it back in. That helped me once, even though it didn't make sense.

Sounds like your MVP is in 16:9 mode. If unplugging power doesn't reset it, stop GBPVR, start the Hauppauge software, connect and go into settings to check the 4:3/16:9 setting. Then swap back to GBPVR once it's configured correctly and you've saved the settings.

I was playing around with different dongle.bin files and this happened to me when using the latests driver. I went back to the original one that ships with GB-PVR and the screen went back to normal. Have you udated anything recently?

The only thing I updated was GBPVR from 11 to 12b -- and I only did this in an effort to solve the above problem.

When I get home from work tonight I will pull the MVP plug and see what happens.

EDIT: I should add that the picture image does not SEEM to be 16x9 (although it very well could be) b/c I would think that more of the image would be lost. We shall see.

This ihas happened to me a couple of times in the 4 months I've been using GBPVR. Pulling the MVP plug fixes it. There was a thread some weeks ago about it, speculating on the firmware version in the MVP, but nothing conclusive came of it.

Yea, I'll give that a try when I get home. It seems like I remember reading something like that, but can't find it either. On another note, I think it has been a while since I pulled the plug on it. Wink
