Recent streaming issue with Matt Huisman Aus TV streams

I've been using NextPVR to record Australian TV streams with the IPTV device using Matt Huisman's maintained raw m3u8 streams at:

https://i.mjh.nz/au/Sydney/raw-tv.m3u8

Everything has worked well for some time (at least 2-3 years), but recently I'm seeing an issue with all the 7 network channels, specifically

https://i.mjh.nz/7-syd1.m3u8

where it will stream for about 1 minute or so and then just freeze. This is now always happening, I just cannot get this channel to work.

I have tested the exact same m3u8 live stream by pasting it in at:

https://www.hlsplayer.net/

And from here, the m3u8 stream will stream just fine, without any issue (I ran it for about 30 mins without a problem)

I have completely re-built my NextPVR server (using Ubuntu server 22.04) and completely re-installed NextPVR on it.

I'm having issues with both recordings and live streaming from the TV guide in exactly the same way.

The problem appears to be specific to NextPVR, and specific to this one TV channel. 

Does anyone have any idea what might be going on here? Any way I can debug it?

Turn on verbose logging and try again and we can look at the zipped logs.

Thanks Martin. I can't see the option to enable verbose logging in the web browser settings, do I need to edit config.xml to enable? I noticed currently:

  <LogLevel>DEBUG</LogLevel>

Can I update to some other value?

In any case, I started on a completely clean system running Ubuntu 22.04 server, installed NextPVR, set up the IPTV device using Matt's links, and then started the stream for channel 7. Waited for about a minute for the stream to freeze (as it always does), and then left it in that frozen state and downloaded the log zip file (attached).

No extra junk in the logs to look through, this is a clean install that have never done anything except stream channel 7

Other information that might be relevant,

• I was running on an old version for a long time (I think it was 4.1), but after a system upgrade, it didn't work because it needed libssl1.0 (old version), so I jumped to the latest version (6.1). I'm not sure if it is connected, since there was some time between upgrading and noticing the issue
  

• The ping time between my NextPVR server and the stream is very large  (in the order of 200ms). I'm not sure if the new version is less tolerant of long ping times; I'm starting to wonder if it is dropping the stream if it doesn't get anything after a certain timeout, any way to tune those values if they exist?

I was on my phone I thought you might search the forum for the directions.  On the Settings page hold Ctrl and a new option should appear.  Not sure why sub hides this

On the Settings->About web page, press the 'Ctrl' key on your keyboard, and a button will appear to enable verbose logging.

I don't know how to read these logs, but I don't see anything interesting. At the end:

The stream seems identical every time. Also, the logs seem to continue after the stream freezes on the screen. So, just to be sure, I run a "tail -f" on the log and then start the stream again. It's spewing the Seven stream to the log, and even after the stream freezes in NextPVR, it still sending data to the log as if nothing happened.

I dunno what's happening here, but it appears that NextPVR is still receiving the stream (according to the logs), but it has frozen on the screen. In order to run this stream, I switch to the "TV Guide" tab and just click on the show in the current time-slot for Channel 7, and then choose "Watch Now" to start the stream. Although the same issue occurs if I schedule a recording for this channel.

Something else I noticed, when I schedule a recording, if I look at the .ts file, it appears to say that it's around 20 mins long (varies randomly), but when I try to play the file, it plays for about a minute and then just stops (just like the live stream). Also the file is way too small for a 20 minute mpeg4 stream, it's usually less than 100 meg.

Somehow, NxetPVR seems to be trying capture the stream for about 20 mins, but it only actually gets the first minute of the stream.

If I stop the live stream, then I go back out to the TV Guide, and click on "Watch Now" again, it will start the stream again, perfectly normally, and then freeze again after about a minute. I can do this as many times and as often as I like, each time I start the stream, it will work perfectly for about a minute and then freeze.

Thanks It is actually quite telling, the m3u8 file that NextPVR is reading doesn't grow like a live file should.

More info. This problem does not occur with any of the channel 9 streams from the same source, e.g.

https://i.mjh.nz/ch9-syd1.m3u8

Has absolutely no problems.

Also, it happens with all the Channel 7 streams; NextPVR gets the identical issue with 7two, 7flix, and all the other Channel 7 variants. There's something about the way Channel 7 is formatting their stream which NextPVR doesn't like, however hsplayer.net has no problem playing these streams.
