Hello,
If I have recorded a program and I then edit that recording (to cut out commercials, etc.) are there any issues I need to be aware of?

Is there any kind of rescan needed or does it otherwise need to be made aware of the change in file size or length?

Thanks

The recording duration is used by Kodi so for it simple comskip is better than removing ads. Transcoding to reduce size bitrate doesn't change duration.

If I carve out bits of the file with something like Avidemux though?
I have things where there's enough extra of a different program on the front of it to be profitable to lop that bit off (usually when the program starts later than advertised so there's like 10 minutes of something else first)

If you can be bothered it will work. Autoskipping 10 minutes at the beginning is a piece of cake with an edl file.

If you don't use Kodi I don't know if you will have any issues.

I've had success editing the .ts file and then deleting all of the comskip files related to that recording. Otherwise, I suspect that comskip will cause jumps at really wrong places in the "new" file.
