Formerly I used a Hauppauge Nova-S SE with the original software for recording FTA-TV-Shows from Astra 19.2E-sattelite.
I installed gbpvr as soon as it got DVB-S support (via BDA-Drivers).
Unfortunately the problem began with scanning transponders. gbpvr didn't get it through, hanging randomly at different transponders. It didn't even find all channels in the successfully scaned transponders. Instead it found a lot of DVB-Radio-Channels i don't need. So I took the scan.cache-file und wrote my favourite programmes in and deleted the not wanted. So I got gbpvr to run with my favourite programmes - running into the next problem.
Though changing channels within a transponder works sufficient, tuning another channel (on another transponder) fails only black screen showing.
The gppvr.exe-native.log tells that the channel hasn't been locked. Quality and strength are more than poor as it should be. Normally i have nearly 100% each when the working channels lock.
So when I restart my PC and first tune into that formerly not working channel which did'nt lock before - now he does. But when it tune back to the formerly working channel on the working transponder this is not working anymore (until I restart my PC).

I tried mediaportal yesterday (also working with bda-drivers) - same Problems.

The original BDA-Software from TT has no problems. Tuning in whatever i do......

What version of the TechnoTrend drivers are you running? I had similar issues on my Nova-S device, but I havn't used this device in a long time so my memory of the issue is hazy. I thought updated drivers corrected the problem. I suspect the TT drivers are just a bit buggy, particularly if it also happens with mediaportal.

My main development machine now has a Twinhan DVB-S card, and I've never seen these issues with the drivers for this device.

I took the newest one available from TT-Homepage - version 1.0.4.0 (april 2005).

I had the same problems using version 1.0.3.0.

If only this would work ... together with my mvp. Your software is the best i've ever tried. And i've tried a lot, believe me, sub!

I understand, but to be honest, I think its a bug in the TechnoTrend DVB-S BDA drivers. As I said, I dont get this problem with the TwinHan device.

Hopefully we'll see 1.0.5.0 drivers soon, and hopefully they'll resolve the problem.

I agree with you, sub ...

but, as i wrote before, within the original BDA-App from TT there are NO such problems. Everything works fine.

Oh well, if we can get TechnoTrend to tell us what they're doing different from every other BDA app, then we're sorted.... Big Grin

I will try other BDA-Software and tell you my experiences. Mediaportal was overall unstable.

Hi sub!

As promised I've now tried several software with BDA-support. Though mediaportal hangs an channel scaning there are no problems with "channel-hopping" through different transponders. MyTheatre worked without any issues. Showshifter also.

I please you to take a look at my tuning problem as I don't think that it's related to the BDA-driver...

Sorry, I dont know whats causing your problem. Maybe you should stick with one of these other apps that is working with your device.

None of the other apps has the features your's got! None of them works so perfect together with my mvp. Only your software does exactly what I've ever wanted!!
