Also is it only on startup? After buffering does it play ok?

It was doing this before I installed IPSimple, and yes it's rock solid after that initial pause. Like I said, an annoyance not a problem strictly speaking.

Ok yes I have seen that too on all versions of Kodi, I thought more general playback not just startup. Sometimes for me it starts and I get the throbber and a pause. I have never worried about asking Kodi to look at this, assuming it was a raw http stream vs addons that can control the demux.

Perhaps try playing with the Expert setting under timeshift to control the various buffer settings, if you can live with a longer startup delay.

Increasing the delay under timeshift did not prevent the freeze. Thanks anyway.

I didn't expect it would, I've played around with this for while, it isn't frozen, it is still buffering, although some devices are bursty. If you want support for this you or going to need to open an GitHub issue with logs etc. I see this as a Kodi Window issue and looking on my Apple TV where I happen to be testing right now, I don't see the stall or throbber appear.

Lowering the values in settings is also an option.
