Will ads skip on ATV? Comskip

Hi there,

Thanks for all the support this forum offers, together we have solved two complex issues for me and I hope this one is a simple one.


I have got com skip working properly, generating edl files etc, which I'm very pleased to have managed!

My question is, will the ATV client automatically skip the ads like the other clients, or will I need to run comcut to remove them from the video file?

Sorry no. The appletv app doesn’t currently support comskip

Is commercial skipping on the horizon? Kodi with the current plugin seems to do very well, but the only Kodi for the Apple tv is the abandoned MrMC fork, which has a very old plugin that doesn't have the commercial skipping option.

That's not the "only" Kodi. You can sideload official Kodi builds but it takes a bit of work with macOS xcode and signing.  I did a lot of work on pvr.nextpvr and fixing a Kodi pvr bug using my Hackintosh to load it every week and I had it down to a science but buying an Android box makes more sense.
