Hi,
I use a NextPVR server on Windows 10 with Kodi as frontend. It is great. I also use the web interface at port 8866 on my mobile.
I am looking for another stream server solution like the one that runs at the web interface but it should be separate from the installation above and run alongside the NextPVR server on that machine. The web interface at port 8866 compresses the file which is very important for a mobile playback on 4G net.
Can i use NextPVR for as a streaming server only that runs on the same windows pc? Btw, i tried Jellyfin for this but Jellyfin did not deliver a smooth playback and used considerably ressources while it should be idle which is why a currently have stopped the service while i consider what to do.
Are there other lightweight solutions that stream and also compresses the file? thanks

It is not clear what you want, you see the web interface works while mobile. Transcoding options are client driven.

Some of sub's clients do transcodeing too. You can also use Kodi while mobile, and it can use transcoding for live tv. There really is no such think as :lite" transcoding, best you can get is h/w accelerated.

If you are talking recordings, you can transcode recording for mobile playback but to make it lighter disable thumbnails and timing unless you you use the web server. Run time transcoding will always be nuisance.

I can import recordings/any mkv, ts, and other movie files into the web interface (at settings.html 'import recordings') of my existing NextPVR server on Windows. I want to do that but i dont want to mix these imports with other DVB-C recordings. It is a multiuser issue / multi instance of NextPVR question.
Can i install another NextPVR on that same machine or is there other solutions available for streaming recordings/any mkv, ts, and other movie files as good as NextPVR does with the web interface?

NextPVR is primarily a PVR which is why it is a lighter then Plex, Emby and Jellyfin.  You should be able to disable a lot of adhoc scanning in those clients (and turn off live TV interface too) and just use them for movies to make them lighter like NextPVR would be.

Multiple instances of NextPVR on the same server are in theory possible by

- setting the NEXTPVR_DATADIR_USERDATA environment variable to a new location for the config file database etc
- choose a different port in that config.xml
- figure out how to run NextPVRServer.exe CLI to start the second server.

That is all the help I will give on that.  Too many chances for human error setting it up, running UI clients etc.   Transcoding of no ts files to the web may or may now, non-direct play clients playack do assume ts files.

I can find config.xml in the folder : C:\Users\Public\NPVR-Data
I cannot find "- setting the NEXTPVR_DATADIR_USERDATA environment variable to a new location for the config file database etc " - i have looked at the current user's environment variables and the admin's. Where is this?

Are you running a v5/v6 release? Assuming so, that you should have this directory in your Windows users folder

It's a value you have to set to run a second instance of NextPVR, the default when it is not there is to C:\Users\Public\NPVR-Data

- set it in a batch file before running NextPVERServer.exe.
- Make sure it points to another folder and not C:\Users\Public\NPVR-Data
- once it runs edit config.xml to change the port
- figure out how to autostart this batch file.

Sorry that is all I want to say about this, you asked if it was possible, now you are on your own.

In Winodws Exporer you can type %PUBLIC% as the directory name and press enter, and it'll take you to the equivalent of c:\users\public on your machine. The NPVR-data directory should be in there.

He wants to run two instances of NextPVR on one server, that won't help.
