Suddenly NPVR won't start

Strange issue...I have been running NPVR v5 for, seems like forever, without issue. In fact, Monday night a show that had been on hiatus returned and recorded without issue. Tuesday night I wanted to check the program guide and NPVR wouldn't start. The link to the web gui results in "This site can't be reached". Opening the desktop app results in an error message (see pic). Trying to check the NPVR status from the task bar opens a blank box. I rebooted to no avail. Next step was to update to v6.1.5 - everything goes well until it gets to STARTING NPVR and it hangs forever. Checking Services shows NPVR is running but nothing works.

I completely uninstalled (preserved my config.xml, npvr.db3, and recording and recurring xml's) and tried to reinstall. Same issue - hangs at Starting NPVR. Nothing gets installed to Users/Public as in previous installs. Not quite sure what is going on but would appreciate some advice. I have also attached logs I preserved before uninstalling and wiping everything but not sure they captured what the issue could be.

I fixed my issue...kinda. I installed NPVR on a secondary machine and everything is working again as intended. However, I tried several times to reinstall NPVR on the main PC but it will not work. Really frustrating. I had a similar issue with VirtualBox - it just stopped working and any attempt to fix/reinstall failed as well. I wound up going with VMWare, which I like better. BUT, there's still the underlying issue that twice now, I have had perfectly running applications just stop and reinstalling them fails.

I really don't want to do a complete reinstall of the OS and all accompanying software. I'll just have to monitor how things go in the future.

is almost always going to be a an improper shared configuration perhaps run the NextPVR service as a user account

You shouldn't need to reinstall, or resort to installing on another machine.

If you've still got on a broken state in windows, try running the NextPVRServer.exe process manually from a command prompt, and let us know if it reports any error.

I can only guess you've somehow ended up with a broken config.xml, or as Martin points out, it might be something to do with the network share not functioning.

Just to follow up...I have not tried anything to get NPVR working on my original machine. All is working well on the secondary machine so I am happy for now. Yes, frustrated that the original machine broke and I was not able to fix it, but with things still working on the other PC I am not going to worry about it (for now).
