I search the forum for an answer, but haven't found one (sorry if I missed it).

I use NextPVR (on Windows 10) with two tuners (one HDHR Prime and one HDHR Quatro).
To simplify my question, I'll focus on the HDHR Quatro only.

To set my system up (using the Web App) I do:
Settings -> Devices -> select a tuner -> Scan Channels (Guide: XMLTV file on my PC) -> Scan.
This yields 73 channels. I only want to keep 31 channels. Only these 31 channels are in my XMLTV file.

After this, I navigate to Channels (under Devices on the left) the EPG Source column says either:
XMLTV (for the channels I want to keep) or None (for the channels I don't want to keep).

Is there a simple "auto magic" way to delete all the channels with EPG Source = None?
If not, is there a way to accomplish the same goal in the Devices or another menu?

I do this manually today. It is tedious (especially with my HDHR Prime) which has hundreds of channels.
Just FYI, I have one XMLTV file with all the channels I want to keep for both tuners.

There is no easy way based on guide data. On the Device screen you can untick them all and tick 31 shouldn't be something you do often enough to be tedious. When clear QAM gets turned off you will have bigger problems.

None doesn't mean you don't want to keep them, it means there is no current EPG data.

As for always seeing hundreds of channels, that is what you have chosen to see. If you go to the HDHR web GUI you can toggle off the channels you never want. Click the star until it is an X and NextPVR won't see it.

Thank you for your rapid reply.

Yes, I know the "trick" of clicking the Check Mark (preceding Number) at the top of the Devices menu to uncheck all the channels (then add back the ones I want). Thanks.

I also know after setting up one Device, I can copy it's setup to the other Devices of the same type (after clicking the Trash Can to delete any prior setup).

Clicking the Stars in the HDHR GUI until the Red X appears is new to me. Thanks.
This will also require a lot of clicking -lol, but helps if I want to install NextPVR on multiple PCs (which is part of my issue).

I was hoping an Advanced Tools in the Channels menu could do this (or be easily added). Sounds like that is not the case.
I have never understood what Auto Merge and Auto Map do? Can you give me a short explanation or a Reference I can read?

- Auto Merge: If you have multiple copies of the same channel, like you've got both satellite and antenna, 'Auto Merge' will merge all the channels with the same name into a single channel. ie, you might have had two channels called BBC1, and after you'll have one channel BBC1 (available from 2 different sources).

- Auto Map: is for changing the EPG source. For example, you might say "automap all my HDHR channels to use by my Schedules Direct EPG lineup". It'll do it's best to automap all the channels to your new guide data based on the channel name or channel number.

It is much better to install NextPVR on one PC and have clients on others. Again ticking 31 channels isn't extremely tedious even if want to got through the hassle of multiple installs and for the HDHR device you can even copy npvr.db3 assuming the same platform (Window or Linux). Your requirement is not really typical especially since most people won't have a well mapped clear QAM XMLTV file from the beginning but I leave it to sub to decide if it is a feature users want.

The wiki has a could explanation of the features of NextPVR like Auto Merge and Auto Map.

Thank you again.

I could use Auto Merge for duplicate channels (from both OTA and Cable). Maybe I'll play around with that. Thanks.

I've tried using Auto Map a few times, but it didn't seem to do anything. Maybe because I point to my XMLTV guide when I do a Scan.
Settings -> Devices -> select a tuner -> Scan Channels (Guide: XMLTV file on my PC) -> Scan.

I settled on using a single XMLTV (and corresponding .MXF file for Windows Media Center) to maintain the list of channels I want to keep.
EPG123 provides a One Click way to Map (and retain) only the channels with a corresponding guide. I have WMC on five Windows 8.1 PCs.

I didn't know I can just copy the npvr.db3 to another Windows 10 PC. Copying files doesn't seem to work with WMC.
I'll try that. I assume I do a normal Install of the NextPVR software and then copy in the file?

I was unaware of NextPVR Clients on other PCs. I assume the PC with the full install must be powered on for the Clients to use.
I'll take a look at that also. Thanks.

The one thing to be aware of, it wont remap a channel that's already mapped to something (it does this so you can progressively map a subset of channels to some EPG source, then the remaining channels to some other EPG source, without breaking those initial ones). It does let you automap to none though, and this applies to all channels of that type. So, you for example can automap HDHR to None, then automap HDHR to XMLTV.

Not always, some clients support WOL.

Got it. "...so you can *progressively* map a subset of channels to some EPG source... " Thanks.

I forgot, but did this before to rename, move, or point to a different XMLTV file (without zillions of Cable TV channel Clicks) based on your answer to another persons post). "...automap to None..." Thanks.
