When using NLite on the NPVR server, if I go to the Music, Pictures or Video directory, NLite responds with Directory Unavailable.

The directories are defined in the config on the NPVR server (although they are all shares on another device). NextPVR.exe does display the directories when run on the server.
If I define a local directory in the config on the server, NLite will display the contents, it just seems unable to access shares which NextPVR.exe can access.

Am I missing a config or permission somewhere that would enable NLite to see the directories?

It is a permissions. UI clients like Nlite use server permissions, NextPVR.exe runs using your user permission so drive letters are not mapped the same way. The easiest way around this is to run the NextPVR Recording service as your user.

Martin,

Thanks for your input. I suspected that might be the issue.

I'll change the server permissions and retry.

Martin

Changing the server to run as my user account allows NLite to access network shares so does fix my Music/Video/Pictures access problem.

Interestingly it doesn't allow access to mapped drives nor virtual drives (symbolic links).

It should act just like NextPVR.exe

Martin,

Interestingly it doesn't.

Just to be sure I rebooted the server. Confirmed NextPVR.exe accesses local drives, shares, mapped drives & symbolic links.

NLite accesses local drives & network shares but reports Directory Unavailable for mapped drives & Symbolic link drives. (the latter created with the account the service is now running under).

Ray.

Edit: A bit of research indicates accessing mapped drives from a service is a known Windows issue and a pain to get around so advise is don't do it.

Martin,

Was there a particular reason you chose not to run NPVR as a service?

Do you know if there's any way to start NLite in a kiosk mode? (i.e. full screen & without a border)

I just started that way with the v5 prerelease and finds it give me flexibility. I don't use the installer either.

I don't support nlite, nextpvr.exe or nscripthelper but the forum search works. I don't use them.
