Server crash changing channels

NextPVR Linux server is crashing when I change channels while watching live TV.

The client is uidroid on my NVShield and I change channels using Page UP/DN. I'm currently on the v7 release build. It crashed several times so I captured logcat logs that last time it crashed. After server restart I captured NextPVR logs.

Did you check to see if nlite is OK?

I never use nlite. Don't have a working version set up.

Yauiclient seems to work OK.

It was as server crash and I can see uidroid sent the 33 Page UP and the server pretty much immediately crashed. You can check to see if there is anything in the server dmesg logs, I suspect a Skia graphics error.

The reason for suggest nlite is sub doesn't support uidroid but I just tried here about 10 channel changes here and I got the spinner and the OSD and video played ok.

I did have a thought thougth and tried with a channel group selected and that crashed with a Skia error Where you using a channel group?

Don't know for sure it I was using a channel group. Just now tried using "All Channels" and still got the crash. It worked several times but finally crashed.

DMSG showed a libskia error.

I'm sure it is a problem that sub will need to address. It is not particularly good with NextPVR.exe either certainly slow.

At this point I will need to go back to Kodi since it is trouble free with v7.

I have been using Uidroid and avoiding chan up/dn to keep from Nextpvr server from crashing. Also, I implemented a reboot if NextPVR does crash so at least it will recover without user intervention.

I noticed @artmetz post in the Wishlist about using CTRL+B to immediately close OSD when skipping so I though to try this approach myself. Using Key Mapper for Android I set this up for chan up/dn.

One caveat is that it also suppresses OSD on channel changes so just the spinner happens during channel changes with live TV. However, the benefit is that I have not seen any more NextPVR server crashes since adding CTRL+B to channel changes.
