I was trying to setup a dummy channel for using GBPVR to record On Demand stuff, instead of using WinTV2000. I planned on assigning channel 1 to the composite input #1, and no external tuner.
I made a seperate Capture source with;
Composite External Tuner - No Channel Changer Required.

I added a Channel #1 to only that Capture Source called "On Demand"
I can use the channel up/down buttons to go to it, but not by typing the number, or the guide, (It is obviously blank, actually missing).

Can I setup a fake xmltv for only that capture source that has a fake entry of "On Demand" that exists forever? I am using zap2it for my other sources.
I am going to try to find the format and give it a shot.

Does anybody have any other ideas on how to make a channel available for cable box use? I have not been succesfull at faking a listing entry, other than manually entering one in the database, and it is still invisible in the guide.

You need to set the number on the main channels tab, not in the capture source channels list.

To be honest, I wouldn't bother doing this. When you need to schedule recordings for this channel, just do it via the manual recording option. Yes, you'll be left with a blank channel in the TV Guide.

Do you mean the "123 Channels" tab in config? I honestly don't know how to do that.

I realize that GBPVR isn't built for this, but I figure it should be possible, and might (might!) come in handy. I did get a fake listing to show up, but not consistantly, so I'm on the right track.

Also, Sub, where can I find a document that explains what is required in the XMLTV file for GBPVR? I realize that there is extraneous info in it.

Yes, the master channel list. Just click in the channel number field for you channel, and type '1'.

Just put channel, start time, end time and title.

Thanks! I'll give them both a try.

I think I got the fake XMLTV import to work, but only 1 at a time. I don't know what the maximum duration is. I got 2 1hr slots to show up yesterday. I was probably trying too long of a show duration. (I was trying an entire year!) I think I might write a script to make many 4 hr fake shows, so that they will be different in the DB, so as long as I don't want to record more than 1 show every 4 hours off of On-Demand, it should work.
