I think it would be very handy if when resolving a conflict, it gave more information on the show it is conflicting with. Some of the shows I have in the recurring list, like Seinfeld, and American Chopper... Are shown alot during the week, and I have seen almost all of them mainly because of the convenience of GBPVR. When I go to resolve a conflict with a show and it is conflicting with Seinfeld, I have to leave the conflict, and go to the pendings and find that scheduled recording, and see what episode it is to decide which one to keep.

I find it much easier to use the web interface to resolve conflicts, If there was a way to see that listing in the main GBPVR app, that would be nice also.

Sorry if this has been covered already.

I would like to see something also that shows what got conflicted and what was not scheduled. I go into the recording.log file to see what happened in the conflicts. More information on the conflicts would be great.

I schedule a lot of shows and have tons of conflicts that get resolved by deleting shows. I still haven't figured out what the priorities are between the various ways shows are scheduled.

A plugin showing what was conflicted and how it was resolved would be awesome. Maybe this could be part of XRECORD or just part of the core GB-PVR.

what i would like to see would be when their is a conflict that it will look for an alt recording time with the same show name ( not the name of the show like stargate , more like stargate:morphus ) and then scedule a recording for that ...
could be a scheduled thing once a night .. would help a bit for conflicts because their are a ton of shows ( essp on sci-fi , usa , tnt , a few other chans ) that repeat themselves either a few hours later ( west coast showing ) or on a differnt day.

I dont have enough information available to do that. GB-PVR is designed for XMLTV, which provides me no way to be sure that one show is the same as another.

I would second a feature request that simply provided the following functionality:

If one clicks on a show that is in conflict, both shows are presented...and one can be chosen.

From what I can tell now, I am only presented with one of the two shows in conflict. It would make sense to present both, and allow a choice.

So how does GB-PVR resolve conflicts anyway?

First in, first served.

If the system goes to schedule a recording, and finds there is no available the capture source at that time, then the new recording is marked as a conflict (ie, will not record). The original recording is left in place unaltered (will record).

The conflict can be resolved one of two ways:
1) each time you cancel a recording, the system checks if this action will enable any of the 'recordings which were marked as a conflict (will not record)' to take place. If so, then the scheduled recording has its status changed from a 'conflict' to a regular recording and a capture source allocated.
2) or, you resolve the conflict manually on the recordings screen. The conflict list in the recordings shows you the list of recordings which will not take place because they have been marked as 'conflicts'. When you choose to resolve one of these, it shows you the one or more recordings which were already scheduled which made this a 'conflict'. This gives you the option of cancelling these recording, in effect making it possible for the conflict to be resolved.

I hope that makes sense.

If you visit the recordings screen, and click 'conflicts', it'll show you the list of recordings that will not take place because they have been marked as conflict victim.

If you click the resolve button on one of these, it'll show you which shows were already scheduled which meant this particular recording was marked as a conflict.

Thanks again for the response.

Been reading on this site and the wiki.

I noticed the way the resolve conflicts works within GB-PVR. What I was really looking for was a way to prioritize my season passes.

I guess I can add X-Record for this feature?

From your explanation I'm wondering if I could prioritize the list by adding the passes in order of priority?

In other words if I want "Battlestar Galactica" to be #1, I delete all my season passes and add it first, then add season pass priority #2 etc. . .

?
