I've been looking for a video capture card that will also provide a TV tuner. The tuner isn't as important to me as being able to hook up my camcorder and VCR to make good quality DVD's from my home videos (without spending a fortune on a high-end card).
I've narrowed my choice down to the Hauppauge WIN PVR 150 (I don't need or want the FM input, or TV Out capability of the 350).
I've done searching on Ebay and Pricewatch, and it seems like what's mostly available, and generally cheaper is the "MCE" version of the PVR-150.
I'm running Windows XP Professional, so what would I lose if I purchased the 150MCE, as opposed to the 150?

Thanks.

I believe the 150 comes with a remote and some software. The 150MCE is pretty much the bare card but you can get the software from the Hauppauge website if you want it (but GB-PVR is much better). The 150MCE also has FM radio capability. The 150MCE is cheaper than the 150, or at least it was when I bought mine. I'm running two of the 150MCE's and they work just fine. I use them for TV, tho, haven't tried feeding them from a VCR or camcorder yet, but that's something I intend to try when I get a round tuit.

MCE Pros FM Tuner, cheaper
MCE Cons No remote/ir blaster No software
Both have same TV tuner, and composite inputs.

Plus I think the MCE is available in low profile.
3x MVPs (not used anymore)

Hauppauge 150 via SVideo
Comcast Digital Cable
Motorola HD Cable box channel changed via Firewire
Vista Home Premium with RDP hack
AMD Athalon 64 5000+
340gig sata, plus 80SATA+3x160IDE Drives in XP machine for storage.

I bought an MCE edition. It doesn't come with some of the recording software (ULead DVD burner), so I was unable to convert my recorded shows for watching on a DVD player. I resolved that issue by getting a version of Ulead. The other thing, is I haven't been able to get the FM receiver to work in XP Pro. Any ideas?

I too have a PVR150MCE with the latest drivers and no sound after rebooting the PC, only after running tuningassistant (without changing any of the gbpvr setting!!!) magically the sound appears and stays untill the next reboot.
Must have made some bad english statements so I do not dare to ask for any help :o

No sound in recordings, no sound in live TV, no sound in timeshifted TV, no sound when?
Have you attempted any other audio decoder selections in config?
Are you using XPMCE, or just regular XP with the 150mce drivers, or???
You can never have enough tuners!

If you added the very latest upgrade Hauppauge had on the site (from May or June I think) then remove it. The same thing happened tome after I added the latest update. removing it fixed the problem
