I wish for...

...the ability to schedule manual recordings from the web interface.
...the ability to access the web interface from something other than localhost.

..AM/PM on the manual recording page instead of military time. Having to convert the times and praying I get it right is terrible.

..a new config.xml entry that allows you to specify the number of days to fetch from zap2it. 7 is an utter pain when you can have 14.

..aggresive memory optimization in the recording service. 100MB+ for a service that's not doing anything makes me want to cry. It's just awful.

..a new recording method: Record Season - All episodes this timeslot, this day of the week, this channel.

..another MS Access table to store the title and description of previously recorded shows, and a page for setting how they are expired (if ever).

..telling the zap2it webserver to compress the EPG response. A 35MB update can shrink to between 5-8MB just by using zlib, and it supports more than one compression algo.

..the ability to stop a recording from the system tray icon.

..More detailed information in the Video Library. Long filenames wrap and are hidden by the folder icon. File size would be nice for *, running time for MPEG2's would be great.

..a new information screen for disk space usage, and an estimation of hours used/left.

There is no limitation. I use it remotely.

It just uses the system date formats. You can easily change this in your machine set up.

The Video Archiver plug-in does all of these, more or less.

I appologize.

I know of no place to set this, and I see no place on my system that's using 24h time. And on top of that, GB-PVR uses the 12h format everywhere but there. If anything, it's a consistency thing.

Don't you have comments on the others? Like "maybe", "it'll never happen". A word or two would be nice.

Jeff

I don't want plug-in's, I want features that should be there by default added. Every plug-in that's ever been suggested to be has been utterly sub-standard as well. It's just my personal opinion of course, but I have no interest in installing 10 plug-ins accessed through 90 screens to do what is more easily integrated into the main program.

it just dont get it.

video lib would be considered a plugin, music lib would be considered a plugin, recordings would be considered a plugin, they interact with gbpvr the same way any plugin does. gbpvr is just the pvr core, and the main menu.

its best for the most part for sub to spend his time on the core, and what can be done via plugin, should be.

I dont typically respond to wish list items unless I fell strongly either way. Most of your suggestions are quite reasonable, so fall under the "maybe" category. Some have been raised by other people in the past.

I'm only one person and I'm stretched pretty thin, so "maybe" is about the most commitment I can offer. Obviously my own personal wish list takes priority over suggestions by other users, and I already have a large list of things I'd like to implement.

I imagine sub's wish list contains things we've not even thought of yet Wink
