I have a strange question about the MVP and gbpvr.

Both products work fine. However when attempting to switch via AV to other tv channels ( in a configuration where MVP is using only for MPEG and MPG playback - and not live tv - for the moment, until I get wiring sorted ) - it does not work.

Specifically. I have to completly power off the MVP to get back other channels. If I simply power off the MVP using the green button on the remote, I get sound back, but no video.

A browse of the support site, led me to this;

Software updates, utilities and sample media

MediaMVP version 2.4
mediamvpsetup_2.4 release 23096
Updates in this version:

* SCART connector now powers off when turning off your MediaMVP using the green power button on the remote control

Now I figure this may assist, as long as I am not using gb-pvr, as I understand that when using gb-pvr that gb-pvr provides a kernel using tftp to the mvp box, so the update will be ignored. Can anyone shed some light on this. Is the updated kernel from the mvp release above already included with gb-pvr ( In which case I am barking up the wrong tree Sad )

Ths,
cadence.

Dongle.bin is the file you are after. I couldn't tell you if the version with GB-PVR is the same as the one you mention - I'm at work and can't check.

You can easily try it out by copying the file from the Hauppauge installation to the GB-PVR folder (again I can't remember the exact location, but a quick file search will show you). Back up the original GB-PVR dongle.bin file first and make sure you power cycle your MVP before trying it.

Good luck!

right, I've had a whirl at this. The following are the results.

Summary.

It still does not work.

Long winded explaination.

GB-PVR version v.0.92.11

MVP version

p_24_23096 downloaded from the hauppauge website, on top of a cd install.

Dongle sizing.

GB-PVR 1,718 KB
MVP 1,690 KB

What I did.

1. Install the mvp update. Stop gb-pvr mvp server and try to reboot the mvp to pickup hauppauge software to verify if the patch resolved the problem before looking at gb-pvr.

Result. I could not get the mvp box to communicate with the server. It simply stays on the connecting to server screen Sad

2. Disabled mvp services and verified that I could connect via gb-pvr software.

Result. This works. However this is a no change test. It simply verifies that the software is still functioniong, after the hauppuage software upgrade.

3. Renamed the dongle.bin in C:/program files/devnz/gbpvr/Dongle to dongle.bin_gbpvr
Copied the updated hauppuage dongle to this directory. Note the file sizes as indicated above.

Rebooted the mvp box. Connected ok. When I powered off the mvp box, I get the same situation, ie can hear sound on television, but no picture. Need to physically power off the mvp box to get pictures back.

Any advice appreciated..

The only other thing I can think of is the scart lead. Have you tried using another one - thinking that maybe not all the pins are connected (or something)!

I use my MVP in a manner similar to what you describe and a soft power off returns me to my TV without problems.

I'll try on a different television and different scart to try to isolate the problem - as you say, it may be simply hardware and nothing to do with software..

I'm having the same problem. When i originally set up the MVP i used the hauppage software, latest update, and the MVP downloaded it's software from that. I then later installed GBPVR and had been using it sucessfully, without power cycling the MVP. I never had a problem with the SCART connector, and was able to switch to other AV inputs, and the analog tuner in my TV with the MVP in standby.

I think moved house, which obviously power cycled the MVP, and now it downloads it's ROM image from the GBPVR, and i'm getting this SCART issue. I guess it's probably holding up the pin 9 switching pin on the scart connector or something like this.

So i guess it must be a software issue.,...

I am also experiencing this problem - my TV works in all other respects and with all other SCART connected equipment, but with the MVP in standby, the picture is blank but I can hear the sound. The only solution for me is to switch the MVP off at the wall. (I might try putting a scart switch box in line so I can switch it off using that). If anyone has any more ideas it would be appreciated.
