There's been a lot of threads about this, but I couldn't find info on my problem.

The MVP is playing recordings fine. When I try to play a divx file though, the audio is always 7 seconds behind the video. It's deterministically wrong, whether I pause, FF, REW, etc.

I've tried turning ffdshow off and that doesn't help (I have the latest version of ffdshow installed, btw). The audio and video are perfectly sync'ed when running GBPVR on the host machine.

I'm going to keep investigating, but anybody has any ideas?

Thanks,
Pulp

Hi all, haven't posted for a while.

FWIW, I seemed to be constantly 'tweaking' to try and get DivX files to play over GBPVR on my MVP, with varying success. In the end, I bought a MPEG4 capable Philips DVP642 from WallyMart for $60 as a second DVD player.

Had it around a month and it has (so far) played everything I have thrown at it. Benefits:

1) I have been fitting around 7hrs of DivX video on a single DVD+R.
2) Using Nero, it takes about 10mins to make a data DVD.
3) All that lovely harddrive space back (I had a LOT of archived stuff).
4) I can use my GB-PVR/ MVP as intended, as pure MPEG-2.
5) Sixty measly bucks, and I have spent more time recently actually watching DivXs than messing around with them.

Just my thoughts.

It's not a horsepower issue (2.6Gig). Also, using the Hauppauge software, divx plays flawlessly.

I'm having the same exact problem you are.... Well, in as much as my video is actually too fast, and I can see that it is just too fast for the audio. I know it's not a horsepower problem, I've got a dual Athlon FX55 using Winxp-pro, 4Gig Ram, 1TB HD (RAID), it's a rock'in machine....

I've tried FFDShow, and it actually helped by centering the widescreen (before it was up at the top), but it didn't help the audio sync issue...

This sucks....

Try changing the codec which ffdshow is using from the libavcodec to the xvid 1. Do this in the main configuration not the raw only one.

I found the setting you referred to under FFDShow -> Video Decoder Configuration -> and the top option is Codecs.

I made the change to the xvid and -- it didn't make any difference at all (sadly). The videos still play considerably faster than the sound.

Any other ideas?

Thanks for your help with this!!!

.... stop using FFDSHOW.

Instead use AVISYNTH to resize and correct the FPS (to 25FPS - PAL).

All of my audio synch problems are solved. (I still have problems with FFWD & RWD but that's another story)

I second the post above.

Also, there may also be a corrupt AVI header in some of your AVIs
Open the fiel in virtualdub and it will tell you with a popup warning if your divX is corrupted (as well as the procedure to correct it)
