I was told on this board that Live TV would be fixed in the next release!

I was running setup17

and just installed setup18

and live TV STILL has problems

Before it was consuming my entire hard drive...

Now... it records till the file size is about 1 GIG... and hangs!

I too have not been able to get liveTV to work. I have a Provideo PV259. Recording is working great. When liveTV launches I get a black screen and a 5kb livetv-1-0.mpg.sbe file in my video directory. As far as I can tell nothing else is happening. Any ideas are appreciated!

Great application sub!

I'm doing my best, with the very limited amount of hours I have available. If you're not happy, no one is making you use it. Comments like this are generally not helpful. If you have problems, I'm happy to hear about them and try and work through them. What you need to provide is a detailed description of the problem you are having, and how your setup is configure (Overly/VMR, XCard/PVR350/MVP, MPEG2 decoder, etc).

Dont just bitch. I dont owe you anything.

mrek, you might want to try disabling SBE in the config app. What renderer are you using VMR/Overlay? and what mpeg decoder?

Thats a fine Attitude to take!

The problem is... you dont let people know what the problems with the release are!

You let them find it out for themselves!

Not a good way to run a project.

Ive been coding for 18+ years... so I know... Better not to do something... than to do it half way.

Anyway.

Im using a PVR350 with the default values for recording, I have VMR7 selected. I am not changing channels through GB-PVR it always stays on channel 3, and I use my cable remote to switch channels.

oopicmaster,

Couple of quick points.

Its version 0.18.
Its freeware.
Its written by one guy, who judging by this forum has made a lot of people rather happy by producing a fine bit of software which in most cases works great.
One last one - you might have noticed that the message board is not full of people with the same problem as you. Most of us have 350's/250's and seem to watch live tv without problems. Have you considered its possibly a fault with your system?

Oh, and cut the "I've been a programmer for 18 yrs" nonsense. If that was even remotely true you would understand all of the above points.

Cheers,

Scott

You make it sound like I knew you were going to have problems. You can shove that suggestion up your cake hole.

I run the project the best I can given my available time. I'm the first to admit that I dont have time to test everything in every release. Since I'm doing this project in spare time, I dont have a lot of hours. If I tested everything, every release, I'd have no time for any development.

I totally agree with phuturetech.

This software is provided to us all FREE, and I for one am very grateful.

It must take a huge amount of time to develop this application, let alone the other activities that go with it, such as the documentation/website, and to monitor this forum and provide replies/advice.

I think that as a "community" formed around this project, the very least we can do if we are using the software, is to provide some of our time to "beta test" it, and report what we find which can be fed into the development.

Fortunately, I am sure that the mentality of oopicmaster is not shared by everybody else on this forum.

I, for one, am very happy with GB-PVR, and it is getting better with every release.  [Image: biggrin.gif]

Yeah Its FreeWare!

And I BET that some of you people just LOVE LINUX TOO!!!

This is the Problem with Linux... and FREEWARE IN GENERAL!!!

You end up with people who CANT CODE

AND DONT GIVE A CRRAP If their product doesnt work worth a ####!

I dont care if he PAID me to use the software

PUT OUT QUALITY... OR DONT PLAY THE GAME!!!

Or

Let people know... this is crapware... it probably wont work, and more than likely... I cant fix the problem!

I mean REALLY!

The problem with this software is AT MOST a one hour fix for a decent programmer.

Dont know how to implement a Ring Buffer on a File System

HA!

Ok, so if I make a mistake in my ring buffer implementation on PVR350, yet get right MVP, XCard and VMR/Overly - but now I'm a crap programmer.

The only reason I didn't pick this problem up, is because I'm busy and didn't have much time to focus on this. Live TV isn't that high my on priority list.
