I have been looking around at software, and I have been through MythTV, Media Portal and now I am on GBPVR, and by far, I am most impressed with GBPVR. I only have one problem (right now anyways)

I noticed that in gbpvr, that you cant rewind live TV unless you thought to turn on timeshift mode beforehand. I was wondering if there is a way to make timeshift mode always be on, so that I could just flip channels, and then rewind if I need to.

I epecially like the built in support for MVPs! I'm having some issues with that though... but thats for a later time. Wink

If you turn off the live preview mode setting on the misc tab of the config app, it'll always be in timeshift mode.

Its always in timeshift mode on the MVP regardless.

Thank you kindly! Will this cause the channel changing to be slower? I liked how it was as fast as a normal TV...

Will it be around a 1-2sec delay?
About the MVP thing (i know this is the wrong forum, but might as well keep it in one thread) sometimes it will bring up the gbpvr gui, and sometimes it will bring up the mvp one. How can I fix this? I've gotten GBPVR to come up twice now, every other time I have turned it on its gone to MVP.

I installed the MVP software from hauppauges website, and those services are turned on. I also have either a MVP server up, or GBPVR with one mvp server up and I keep getting the mvp interface... any ideas?

Yes. It takes about 1.5 seconds on my machine, but does seem to vary for some users.

It sounds like you still have the hauppauge software running. Click the Start -> Programs -> Hauppauge MVP -> Stop icon.

You can go into Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services and set the two Hauppauge MVP service to manual, so that they wont start automatically at boot up.

hmm the mvp is giving me the error "Cannot contact GUI server"
I've got GBPVR up right now, so it should have the mvp server running...
I've cut the power and turned it back on to try and get it to reboot but its not working

Give this a try:
1. Make sure the Hauppauge services are set to manual (as sub said above)
2. Go into the gbpvr config app and set MVP servers to 1 (or however many MVPs you have)
3. Restart the gbpvr recording service
4. Cycle the power on your MVP

The main gbpvr window does not need to be running in order to use the MVP.

Ouch. I've never seen it take more than 3 seconds on my machine.

Personally I'm a channel surfer, so even a second is too long, which is why we have live preview mode.
