'Trimming' in and out

I have recorded several episodes of Teletubbies for my son.
I use 3 minute 'handles' to make sure the start and end are on disk.
Now, when I play the recorded files i have to wait several minutes for the program to begin. And ofcourse trying to be a good dad I play the same show several times having to wait for the show to start every time.

Is there a way to 'trim' a recorded show and remove the leading and ending 'scrap' video ?

When playing back, simply hit "3" then skip forward, and it will go ahead 3 minutes.

As for actually cutting the file, you will need to use a 3rd party mpeg2 editor. preferably one like VideoRedo or Womble that don't mess with the file and reencode everything. I bet that a simple script coule be made to use the comclean addin that cuts commercials.

I'd love an addon for comclean that would rip the 1, 2, or 3 minutes of pre and post-padding.
Ideally it would get user input for the exact amount to cut, both from start and end.
Comskip does a great job on all the stuff in the middle (combined with comclean), but cannot seem to cut start and end bits.

For your son??? OK - I believe you - thousands wouldn't. Did you see the one where 'One Day it was Po's turn to wear the skirt...'? Laugh?...I fell off my beanbag - my wife came in to the room to check on me because she thought I was having a seizure.

Anyway (back on topic) - I've used the freebie ULead thing that comes with the Hauppauge cards to trim things up - it works OK for me.

I recorded te dutch version for him.... if it had been the original english one is would have watched it with him ....

I see you have a PVR150 card, well I believe it came with the nanopeg editor 2.3 in where you simply load the video, set the start-end point and you will have a non quality loss mpg file.

I record many movies and this is what I do to remove the comercials, never tried so far the comskip, but I will do in a couple of weeks.

I think also this nanopeg edit program can be freely downloaded from the haupauge site.

I have tried nanopeg, but it messed up my video....
If I 'export' the file (after setting in and out ) it gets 'waved', it looks like very large interlace trouble... I didn't find a way to correct this problem...

I think you can trick gbpvr to use comclean to cut out the first and last few minutes. You can mimick the text file produce by comskip but only contains the first and last few minutes while the show is recording. Then postprocessing.bat will use comclean to cut out the part from comskip text which you produce. Search for comclean to learn more. Hope it helps.
