Hi all,

I've been trying to resist posting and fixing problems on my own but this one has me a bit stumped. I've got a Nova-T 90002. It's set up to use the BDA capture driver, set to all regions/all channels. I've tried the EPG as both XMLTV and Bleg (as you might expect, it makes no odds). The card is working, I have no errors. I'm using the InterVideo muxer. When I go to "map EPG channels to digital channels", it scans 57 channels, and returns with only a partial list: Sky Sports News, Sky News, UK History (all twice) and a few others (I'm in the UK). Those channels are displayed perfectly, but no mention of BBC1-4, ITV1-3, C4, etc. With the same cable plugged into my digi-box, I can view all those channels. Does anyone know what might cause this? I've tried twiddling settings but nothing seems to help it. There is no sign of an error in Config.exe.log (I've scoured it thoroughly), and the only bit that looks vaguely like one in Config-native.exe.log is in the middle of this:

You could try editing config.xml to set <BDAScanType>2</BDAScanType>, it has helps some people in the past.

I dont really recommend the Intervideo Mux, it seems flakey for most people that try it, but if its working well enough for you, no problem.

Changing the scan type makes no difference - are there any other numbers I could try? I am happy to change to another mux; will that make a difference to this problem? Thanks for your help.

No. '1' tells it use the main channel scan, or '2' the alternate channel scan.

No that wont help.

Sorry I dont know. Do any other BDA applications managed to tune in those missing channels?

I'd been avoiding it based on what everyone said, but I loaded Hauppauge's WinTV and it only finds those channels too. I guess it is an issue with the card that I'd better chase up on their forums. Sorry to have been a pain here - hopefully I can get it sorted now!

Which version of GB-PVR are you using? Also which version of the Nova-t drivers?

Quote:...partial list: Sky Sports News, Sky News, UK History (all twice) and a few others...
The channels you list all come from the same transmitter MUX - I bet it is also locking onto 3C, Premier Radio, talkSPORT and Sky Travel ????

The last time I saw this was with an older version of GB-PVR and I 'think' (memory getting hazy) it was only when I had both of my Nova-t cards in at the same time. With a single Nova-t I 'think' (hazy memory again) it didn't happen.

In saying that, however, the fact that WinTV is also only picking up the channels from one xmitter MUX seems odd. I don't use WinTV on a day to day basis but one thing it has always been consistent with is locking on to all channels (AFTER v1.3 of the Nova-t drivers, that is).

Cheers,
Brian

I downloaded GB-PVR on Tuesday, so the latest version. I also downloaded the Nova-T drivers that day - I have 2.0 I think. Yep it is also locking on to those channels (consistently), so you must be right that it is only finding that Mux (WinTV finds exactly the same channels). I only have one capture card in. This is a little puzzling, but I'll search around to see if anyone else with the card has had this problem.

Have you tried scanning at different times of the day? Not all Muxes are represented. I believe that WinTV2000 has a signal strengh feature now. It could be your antena that is the problem. Are you using the correct antena for your area and are you using good quality coax (sat100 double screened) can you beg a normal Set Top Box and plug it in to see if you get the same result. You are using V2 drivers from here http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/board/showthread.php?t=709

I can try scanning at different times. My set-top box (with the same cable) receives all channels fine, the signal strength is not maximum, and some lesser channels (e.g. ITV2) can have some small problems, but BBC always comes through loud and clear, so I'm surprised it didn't at least find that. I'll check the signal strength in WinTV2000.

My TV, which is further down the cable chain than my PCTV300i picks up more channels and reliably. The PCTV300i fails to pick up 1 multiplex, even though the tv can. I suspect interference with computer etc.
