Hi,

I have PVR-150 and have been recording onto my Hard drive....

Now that I've got a lot of MPEG files, and I wanted to watch the MPEG files on TV, so I'd like to know if anyone can recommend a GOOD and cheap TV out video card?

I think it's better for me and family to watch the shows on bigger screen (TV) and since PVR150 doesn't have TV out..... Sad

I don't want a fancy video card, just a card enough to transmit MPEG files onto TV screen and without any trouble (ie, delay)

Help, anyone?

ps, TV is within distance of the computer, and it also has S-video as well....

Good cheap would be a used GeForce Ti-4200 or similar.
Good new, would be a Radeon 9000 series. Some as low as $50 at the big box stores.
Just make sure it has TV out, as some models don't.
You can never have enough tuners!

Will any of those cause DELAY or any of these will transmit just like they show on Windows Media player type? Blurry or not?

My goodness, there's no place for me to try it before buying..... Sad

I agree, the 5200 series is also good.

They all have good TV out signals. More depends on the driver version you use, the cable quality between the card and the TV, distance you're going with the cables, etc.
They don't "delay" anything, what you see on the monitor is exactly what you see on the TV, unless you set it up otherwise.
I use a GeForce Ti-4400, 12' of cable to a wireless box, that transmits to all TV's in the house. It works just fine.

Thanks for all the info

Now, I have another question, which one has better quality? S-video out or composite out?

s-video is superior to composite since it is semi-component (seperate y and c)
Software:
- GBPVR v1.1.9 using PVRX2
- NVidea Purevideo Decoder
Hardware:
- 3 X Hauppauge PVR 150
- Media MVP (RGB) on SONY 14" 4:3 CRT
- S-Video on SONY 32" 16:9 CRT
Computer:
- P IV 1.8 Ghz
- 768 MB DDR
- Ati Radeon X1650 Pro Graphics
Drives:
- 40 GB System (XP Pro)
- 300 GB Data (Recordings) on Lacie Firewire
- 160 GB Data (Video) internal
- 120 GB Data (Audio) internal
- 60 GB (Images) internal

Next upgrade: Faster CPU / more mem.

If you're comparing decent cables, yes. If you have good composite and the cheapest s-video you can find (eg, the one that comes w/ the card), then it may be the other way around.

Still do w/ s-video, but spend $10 or on decent cable, or do so if the picture isn't as good as composite.

You might also want to try to use a vga-to-scart-rgb-cable
It's simple to make and delivers the best possible picture.

So, would you think it's better for me to get a video card OR to buy Hauppauge MVP?
