Not sure if this is a hardware or support question, posted on the support already, anywho I have a PVR150 with an ATI Radeon video card. The card setups fine and works well with the packaged software however when i use GBPVR or even beyond tv (tried it just to test) I get a fuzzy picture (not fuzzy on the packaged software) it looks like the connection is bad but it really isnt, also there is no audio but is with the wintv that comes with it. Is there some trick or is there something i am just missing. This is my first pvr i have made myself i just used an old compaq computer i had it is a 2.5ghz intell processor i assume this is fast enough to do everything i need to. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not aware of any issues with this.

I had missed the screenshot you posted, but I did just see it now. It looks like bad reception, but given the Hauppauge software is working well, it cant be that.

Which country are you in? Are you using Antenna or Cable tuning?

Ok, it wont be what I was thinking it might be then.

Another possibility, some applications change the system tuning tables in the registry, which can stuff up the frequencies for directshow applications (like BeyondTV, GB-PVR etc). WinTV2000 does not use directshow for its tuning, so is not susceptible to this.

When they do this, frequency override registry settings are added to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\TV System Services\TVAutoTune".

What apps have you been trying? Anything that could have done this?

The only thing i have done is:

Installed windows
did all windows updates including direct x, windows media player, and .net framework
i then installed drivers for the pvr150, then gbpvr the video worked for a while untill i installed the IR for the card. after that it seems i havent been able to get a clear picture through gbpvr even if i uninstall everything and reinstall only gbpvr. after messing with the settings and stuff i tried beyond tv just to try another software and the same problem (also no audio on either gbpvr or beyond tv only on the wintv that came with the card) next installed all remaining software that came with the card (just incase it would help) thas all i have installed and everythign i have done thus far.

and 1 more thing, when i change channels for the split second when i change it the picture is fine its like it works for a fraction of a second then something kicks it into fuzzy mode or something :-p not sure if that helps or not.

Sorry, I dont know. It sounds like your tuner isnt locking onto the signal for some reason. You could try posting over at http://www.shspvr.com/forum. One of those guys may have come across it before.

Not to state the obvious.. but I cant find mention of it in either of your threads, stonec..

How about the coax cable itself ? Did you try replacing the cable or looking in the end of it to check the cable hasnt pulled back from the housing (the inner white insulator material should come up flush with the inside bottom of the metal part as viewed from inside) ? If you have a small TV handy, try putting the cable on that and check for good pic ?

Just a thought.

Yes I have tried that. The only thing it dosent work with is the gbpvr and beyond tv. I might try myth tv and see if the problem is still there.

I'm basically having the same problem though it has been somewhat intermittent. The problem originally showed itself with media portal. I would sometimes be able to view all channels clearly and sometimes only a couple. As that was getting quite annoying I decided to give GB a shot and am having pretty much the same issue except that it is not so intermittent. I pretty much can't get a clear signal. I can see somewhat of the image through the static and there is no sound. Didn't have this issue with wintv, or mythtv.

Tv input card is a PVR 150
Tv output card was just upgraded to a FX5200
CPU is a 1.7Ghz P4w/400mhz bus
512mb of pc133
200gb 7200/8mb hdd

I didn't see the screenshot, but what you're describing could also be low power. When I was having power issues, I had a wavy picture and other distortion. It turned out the manufacturer of the 5200 vid card I used made it a real pig. A 5600 worked better (even though it was more powerful).

If you have a 300w power supply or less, that could be the issue.
