Here's what I'm noticing; While in Live-TV, I get a 2-3 second stutter every 3-5 minutes. This stutter seems to correspond to the file creations in the Live TV Buffer directory. Looking like so:
TV-1-120050801_2228 - 42MB
TV-1-120050801_2229 - 41MB
TV-1-120050801_2230 - 42MB
When I quit the GBPVR program, these individual files are combined into a single large file. Everything else works fine. I haven't found the right combination of settings to alleviate this every 2-3 minute stutter. I read another post that referred to the downgrade of DirectX from 9.0c to 9.0b. This didn't work either. I have tried both the nvidia codec and the native hauppauge codec's in separate fresh installations with the same results.
If I missed one of the other archive posts, please forgive. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Here's what hardware I have:
P4 1.5 GHz - 512MB RAM
PVR 350 using TV Out
Windows XP Pro
Latest PVR Drivers (as of 8-1-2005)
Soundblaster Live 5.1

Congifured as follows
To allow testing without disrupting the families' current setup, i'm using the auxillary COAX "Out to TV" of the satellite receiver and another 19" TV.
COAX out of a satellite receiver into the PVR350
audio out of the PVR350 into the line in of the SB Live 5.1
Composite out of the PVR 350 to the Television
**Works like a champ, sans this stutter...**

Here's what settings I have in GBPVR:
<Capture Source Tab>
- Recording Source => Direct Recording Plugin
+ Capture Card Type => PVR 350
- EPG Source => Zap2it (working ok)

<Playback Tab>
- Hardware Decoder Device => Hauppague PVR 350
- Software MPEG2 Playback
+ Video Decoder => Intervideo NonCSS Video Decoder
+ Audio Decoder => Intervideo NonCSS Audio Decoder
+ Audio Renderer => SB Live! Wave Device
- Live TV preplay delay =>500 ms

I have observed exactly the same problem. It only occurs on channels which do not have an epg defined. Those channels with associated epg only generate one single buffer-file which continiously increments. However those channels without associated epg generate multiple buffer-files at approx 2 minute intervals resulting in a 5-second playback freeze just after each new file is created.

My System:
AMD 1.3GHz Duron CPU (approx 50% load)
512MB RAM
1536MB fixed paging file (300MB PF load)
TUL theater 550 Pro capture card with latest ATI drivers (6.14.10.86)
ASUS 9550TD video card with latest ATI drivers (6.14.10.6553)
WinXP SP2
Directx 9.0c with quartz.dll from 9.0b

Relavent GBPVR Config:
Intervideo video decoder
Intervideo audio decoder
SB Audigy2 ZX audio renderer
VMR9
No post-processing
Live-TV pre-play delay 500mS
No live-preview mode

I have not attempted to observe the issue without the TV Out. I will try that this evening.

You are correct! Since I only have the one channel at this point (3), I didn't go through and download the whole guide while I was testing. I manually added a channel 3 in the EPG and went on with setting up and testing each feature. I will initiate a full download of the EPG from Zap2it this evening and retest.

Thanks everyone for your input!! I will post my findings.

Mine has simular effects. except it doesn't save mulitple files, it appears to delete the buffer in the middle of the viewing and start another.

My specs are
P4 2.53
2GB RAM
Radeon 9600 128MB
WinTV PVR150
20GB OS drive
80GB PVR drive on seperate controller
SB Audigy

This is with a fresh OS XP SP2 with all updates

This PC was suppose to be used as a full media center PC in my entertainment system but with intermitton delays it is not ready.

Yes, this is a known issue in this release. It has been resolved for the next release.

The work around for now, is to setup your EPG.

Update 8-2-2005:
I have went out and downloaded the full Channel lineup for my area and imported into my config. I still have the issue. I have tried using the internal software decoder to get the output on the monitor and not use the PVR350 TV Out - Still has the same effect, stutter creating files in the Live TV Buffer directory but different time interval. Seemed to do it more often when using software decoder. Any help is appreciated.

I have the same problem. GB-PVR pauses in the middle of streaming live TV. It does this exactly when there is a file switchover even though I have specified "Live TV Preview" mode.

Question: why are files being created when "Live TV Preview" mode is selected? Without any pauses or channel changes on my part, files are created automatically on my machine. The Config XML file shows "Live TV Preview" mode to be "true".

Is it not possible to stream live TV without any file buffering?

I am running this on an Intel Pentium4 2.4 mgz CPU with 750 meg of memory, and a Maxtor SATA drive thru one 100 Ethernet hub so I don't think resources are a problem with my setup (Hauppauge PVR150). BTW have the full EPG downloaded for my area so the EPG is not a problem.

Thanks.
