I know that I should not need the Hauppauge MVPMedia and MVPMedia Svc services running when I boot my MVP, but there are many times when it won't start without them. Last night for example. I found that someone had switched off the MVP. When I turned it on, it hung at "starting applications". Not until I started the Hauppauge services would it fully start. I then stop the MVP services and all is well.

I've searched through the forum but can't seem to find anything to help.

Any thoughts.

I'm running version 92.11

Thanks

GB-PVR doesnt contain a DHCP server, but the original Hauppauge software does. If you dont have a DHCP server elsewhere on the network, then GB-PVR wont be able to boot the MVP from power up.

I have a DHCP server so that isn't the issue.

It doesn't hang at finding a DHCP server, it hangs at starting applications.

That happens to me sometimes also, usually on my MVP that is not on a traditional wired connection.

If you unplug the MVP, restart the recording sevice, and then plug the MVP back in it should work.

See my 7/26/05 posting in this forum below:

Restoring Mvp Connection

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Like a lot of people here, I periodically lose my MVP connection and have a devil of a time restoring it. I have discovered a simple process that has immediately restored the connection each time I've done it. Bear in mind that I'm connected directly to my PC via crossover cable.
When I lose connection, I do the following:
Start Hauppauge MediaMVP (I know GBPVR is supposed to work on MVP without the Hauppauge software installed)
Restart GBPVR
Stop Hauppauge MediaMVP

I have put a Hauppauge Start/Start desktop shortcut just above the GB circle in the tray, so that it takes me about 20 seconds to accomplish the above. I'm curious to see if this works for others.

I find that killing GBPVR from the task manager and letting the recording service restart it for you works too.

Hey all,

I have seen this before myself... I thought it was because GBPVR doesn't come with an TFTP service (for loading the dongle.bin to the MVP).

What I tend to do is leave the MVPMediaSvc from Hauppage running (that's just for loading the MVP bootimage) and use GBPVR for the skins/commands (that's the HTML stuff).

It seems to work for me....

It does come with a tftp service. This is how I boot my MVP all the time,
