Hi,

I have an MVP and a new PVR-350 card which works great but whatever I seem to do I can't get GBPVR to fire up on the MVP. I've tried stopping the GBP server, rebooting the MVP into the Hauppauge software, stopping the Hauppauge service then restarting the GBP server, all I get is the 'Contacting Servers' message on the MVP. What am I doing wrong?

TIA
Darren

This should work:

Ensure both Hauppauge services are running
Wait till the MVP loads up the "go" interface
Start GBPVR MediaMVP Server if not already running (1 for each MVP you have running)
Stop both the Haupauge services

Once you stop the Hauppauge services the GBPVR should appear. The GBPVR MediaMVP Server instances can be started anywhere through this process. For example, I have 3 starting up when I boot my machine (for 3 mvps), set in the schedule. Also a batch file starts up at that point which after 30sec shuts down the hauppauge services (that enough time to ensure that the MVPs get to the Go front end on my setup). As there are already instances of the GBPVR MVP server running, the MVPs go straight into the GBPVR interface (well after a couple of seconds).

Common thing to stop it working is any sort of firewall software, ensure that the GBPVR MediaMVP Server is allowed. The recording service is not relevant to this process (i.e to get the front end on the MVP). Obivously you are starting up the "GBPVR MediaMVP Server" program and not the GBPVR one?

Hi,

Many, many thanks for the reply. I've tried what you've suggested before and all I get when I close down the MVP services is 'Unable to find GUI shite', 'Contacting Servers' repeat, repeat, repeat!

I have no firewalls running (not that I know of!Wink

The MVP software works fine and the PVR-350 works fine on my PC.

TIA

Do you have two network devices? It may be binding to the wrong one...

Yes, this is what will be causing the problem. I think some one with a similar setup as talked about disabling the second networking device while starting the GB-PVR MVP Server. Other than that, there is no work around.

Hi Sub,

Does that mean that anyone with 2 NIC's will have this problem? Forever?

I'm gonna disconnect my wireless NIC now and give it a go again...let you know.

Cheers

Ok, I yanked my wireless Philips USB NIC out and still no good. I still get the 'Failed to contact GUI server' 'Contacting Servers' repeatedly.

Help!

Yes, people with two NICs *may* have the problem. No, not forever. I will fix it when I get a chance. I dont currently have any extra network devices, so have not been able to reproduce the problem. The three computers I have all have a NIC embedded on the motherboard, and I have no wireless device.

Sub,

But surely the fact that I've removed the wireless NIC should have solved the problem, shouldn't it? Now all I have is a standard NIC and my ADSL USB modem.

Cheers
Darren
