I'm not sure this is in the right place but I'm not sure where else to put it so here goes.

Ever since installing ver 93.10 i can't keep the Media MVP screen saver from popping up ever 60 seconds. I've gone into the Happauge software ver 2.5.23228, (although i've tried several different versions with the same results), and tried a number of settings, off, blank, 5 min, 15 min, and all the setting work just fine as long as i'm in the Happauge software.

When i shut down the Happague software and bring up GB-PVR servers, no matter what i'm set to, i get the bouncing Happauge logo in 60 seconds. I have the GB-PVR screensaver set to off, and that works just fine.

I just don't understand why the Happague screensaver keeps popping up. It doesn't do it if there are screen updates happening such as on the main menu with the next recording panel active or while watching a recording but as soon as you don't do anything for 60 seconds up it comes.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Sounds like exactly the same problem i'm having too. If you're somewhere that has a screen refresh, like playing a video or even the main screen with the next recording panel active all is well. Playing music or even checking the weather if you delay any one place for more than 60 sec then it cuts in.

It's most anoying

There has to be a way to get it to stop, even if i wanted a screensaver i'd choose the GB-PVR version, not that stupid bouncing Happague logo

Anybody have a suggestion, i'm out of ideas here??

Seems as though only LilY0da and i have the anoying MVP screensaver problem?

I wrote to Happauge tech support and they pretty much confirmed what i had thought, it's controlled by the software. When i shut down the Happague servers and bring up the GB-PRV servers the MVP doesn't know to shut off the screensaver. What i dont' understand at all is why everyone with a MVP or two isn't having this problem as well.

Happague Tech Support Asnwer below.

Hello

The screensaver problem is something that needs to be implemented by the third party applications to be able to change the settings required to turn off that feature.

It’s not something that we can control only the software can do that and we have implemented that into our personal software.

All of that is fine but sort of shoots me in the foot here. WAF is way way down since this started, now instead of hearing a song playing she likes she has to find the remote, get to the screen push buttons just so the screen comes up and she can find out what that is playing.

There has to be something that can be done! Maybe some kind of moving graphic or something on each screen? Is it possible to get the clock or one of the other panels showing on any screen or is that just for the main screen?

I'll take any suggestion to get rid of this thing, Help!!

For me, the GB-PVR screen saver (added in v0.93) appears before the hauppauge, and updates the screen every ten seconds. This is enough to stop the Hauppauge screen saver from appearing.

What version of GB-PVR are you running?

If you're not getting the GB-PVR screen saver, you try editing the config.xml and reducing the screensaver start period:

<ScreenSaverKickinSeconds>60</ScreenSaverKickinSeconds>

Default is three minutes. Maybe the Hauppauge one is kicking in quicker than this on your setup? Might be worth timing it.

I'm running the latest version, 93.10. It's only since installing it that i'm having this problem. You're correct the Hauppauge screensaver starts in 60 seconds, long before the GB-PVR one does.

The problem is i don't want any screensaver at all. I can shut off the GB-PVR one just fine with the Checkbox in config. I can shut the Hauppauge one off in their software just fine, however as soon as i leave that software the screensaver is back. According to tech support it's up to the 3 party software to implement controls to change settings in the MediaMVP screensaver.

It's all very weird, something as simple as a screensaver being this hard to get rid of.

I've added the following setting in config.xml for the next release:

<DisableHauppaugeMVPScreenSaver>true</DisableHauppaugeMVPScreenSaver>
