Hi Sub,

Basically, I want GBPVR to update the EPG in a way that allows changes to show already in the database. Here's a couple of reasons:
  1. Usually, CSI shows on Israel1 Sundays 21:45. Last week, Israel1 thought it will have to change schedule for yesterday, and when I downloaded EPG, CSI was not there. But it still aired last night. I got lucky.
  2. In major cases of crisis, or cases of extreme events in the news, all 3 Israeli channels tend to shift shows, cancel shows, for the coming day or two. I am not talking about the breaking-news flashes - these I know I can't do anything about.
Since my EPG downloads 6-7 days in advance, whatever changes they make to the schedule after that, is never going to show up. I have both cable and satellite. That's a lot of channels. That's a lot of channels that can give me those kinds of trouble.

I know you said it won't change, but I still want to list is in the Wishlist, maybe see how many people suffer from this issue like me.

Maybe there could be some other solution?

Thanks,
GGF

In this case, would a "Empty EPG" then "Update EPG" do the trick?
3x MVPs (not used anymore)
XBMC
Hauppauge 150 via SVideo
Comcast Digital Cable
Motorola HD Cable box channel changed via Firewire
Vista Home Premium with RDP hack
AMD Athalon 64 5000+
340gig sata, plus 80SATA+3x160IDE Drives in XP machine for storage.

Sure, except it would also do another trick: It will remove all my recordings and reoccurring recordings of the relevant channels.
Plus, it's manual, plus I have 2 capture sources, so it's 2xManual.
Thanks,
GGF

yes, it would.

i have kind of the same problem: my epg loads 4-5 days in advance. the "later" days don't have a description, the description is loaded only for the first 2-3 days. so after one week i don't have any descriptions.

i added the line "gbpvr.exe -onlyemptyEPG" to the UpdateEPG.bat in the gbpvr-directory. this does the trick: gbpvr deletes the epg and updates the whole database.

try it out, i'll take a look at this trick for the next few weeks, but it should work.

edit: it didn't delete the pending recordings....how nice ;-)

You sure it won't delete my recordings?
When I go to the config program, and try to empty the EPG it says it will remove all recordings, etc.

I think that one of the newer feature's Sub added was keeping recording's and pending recordings on EmptyEPG. You would have to test it out to be sure.

maybe the empty epg-button in the config-app deletes the pending recordings, but the commandline-command doesnt. i did the following:

i opened gbpvr and scheduled a recording (quick rec and reocurring). then i closed gbpvr and typed "gbpvr -onlyemptyEPG" in the commandline. i reopened gbpvr and looked at the tvguide. the chanels were still there, but no programm info, except the scheduled programs. i closed gbpvr, typed "gbpvr -onlyupdateEPG" and reopened it. everything was there, including the scheduled recordings.

i think/hope, this also works with an opened gbpvr. i did that closing, starting because i wanted to see the changes (the tv-guide doesnt refresh the view everytime you start it....). try it!

Thanks people. I'd still like to hear what Sub has to say before I jump into possibly life threatening moves (the Wife-Acceptance Factor of losing ALL scheduled recordings is way too high :o)

I agree with GGF. It would be nice to have an EPG Verification feature added to the nightly EPG update that cross references, say, the EPG data for the next 48 hours with what was previously downloaded. If any differences are found then GB-PVR would make the appropriate changes to the local EPG data.

Another nice feature would be a Change Notification in the Panel (VAPanel perhaps?) or the Conflicts menu listing the changes that directly affect any previously scheduled recordings.

As a old truck driving colleague of mine used to say, "That would be tits!"

If you Empty the EPG, it should remove all pending recordings. If it doesnt, then its a bug.
