I have all program descriptions in my XML file, but they are not shown in the TV-Guide. I searched for forum, but couldn't find similar problems. Is there anything I must/can do to fix this?

what xmltv-source are you using?
can you post a part of the file?
AMD 1600mHz, 512 M RAM, 20+160 GB drive, Hauppauge PVR-350 + PVR-150 + PVR-150MCE, Win XP Pro SP3, using software decoding.

I use TVXb, it's XMLTV compatbible. Funny thing is, it worked once, but I then decided not to use the descriptions. Now I want them back and they won't show...

<programme start="20050920190000 +0200" stop="20050920193000 +0200" channel="1.tvgids">
<title lang="nl">Man bijt hond</title>
<desc>Serie reportages : die laat zien waarin groot nieuws klein kan zijn en klein nieuws groot.</desc>
</programme>

Could it be that the programs are already in the EPG without descriptions? GBPVR will not update EPG data, so trying to import an XML file that covers the same timeperiod that you have already loaded will not add the descriptions.
You could try:

1. Checking your most recently imported EPG entry. I'm assuming you've been collecting EPG data with descriptions for a few days now...

or

2. Emptying the EPG then importing your XML file with descriptions. Be warned that this may delete scheduled recordings. I always stop the recording service first then do it - there are other methods discussed previously in this forum.

yes, and i have one of the other possibilities:
open a command window, go to the gbpvr-directory and type:
gbpvr -onlyemptyEPG
gbpvr -onlyupdateEPG

this should work.

Dottore's trick did it!! And my pending recordings survived :-)
But, one thing still puzzles me: I enabled the descriptions 2 weeks ago. I know that existing programs in the EPG won't be overwritten. But then, by now, the newest programs should have their descriptions listed. Strange....

Well, the trick only worked once. After that, the descriptions are not shown after a nightly EPG update. Any clue? Is there a trick to empty the complete database and start again?:confused:

How many days data do you try to import at one time? Some XMLTV grabbers get there data from website that only show the show name for distant shows, and only add more detail as it gets nearer to the airing date. This could cause the problem you describe. The fix is to try importing less days data each time. ie, if you're currently getting two weeks of data, try dropping it down to 6 days or similar.

I import 7 days, and have descriptions available for each day.
