I did a search on this forum on the keyword FLAC. I read that I needed to install a DirectShow filter, and I did (CoreFLACDecoder). I associated the .flac extension with Windows Media Player 9, and it plays fine.

However, the Music Player interface on the gbpvr will not allow me to select a file with the .flac extension.

Am I missing something?

Is there any way to alter which extensions are accepted?

Try creating a playlist and playing them that way. I can get FLAC files to play briefly (any where between 2 secs and 3 mins) if I use a play list. I have never seen the flac files listed individually but I use it with a MVP So that could be a factor. I think my main problem is I only have a 1.6Ghz processor with 1GB of memory.

I'm pretty sure I tried that and it didn't work. Even if that is a workaround, it sure would be nice if someone could tell me the proper way to register the file type. I'm impressed with what I've seen so far. It'd be a lot easier if the right person in the right place could make this possible rather me try to Captian Kirk it. Wink

you can associate the flac extension with "my music" open the config app for gbpvr and go to plugins tab select my music and hit settings that is where you can add the flac extension this will let you see flac files from within "my music". I havent been succesful in playing on mvp it crashes. they will play on on pc using gbpvr. I have tried differnt codecs without any luck for the mvp. I also just tried playing flac with a playlist described by Suricatta with the same results. If you are succesful in playing flac on mvp please post some info.

Ryan,

I took GoodGuys advice and downloaded the Flac codec from http://www.free-codecs.com. I also downloaded the latest Flac version from http://flac.sourceforge.net/. Configured GBPVR so that it recognized flac as a music file and it works great...

Good Luck,

Does that work with MVP? or is it just on your PC?

Suricatta,

Good question, I have built a dedicated HTPC and SP/DIF out directly to my receiver. I don't see why it would not work...
