Comskip version in Docker

Using latest docker container the version comskip included is 0.82.011. This sometimes fails with a segmentation fault.

However this issued appears to be addressed with comskip version 0.83.001. Could the container be updated to use the newer version?

With the Schedules Direct issue I decided to upgrade from 4.52 to the current version. Overall it went pretty well. Some of my tv recordings did not transfer over and I just started looking into that. Also, when playing thru the web browser, it says that it is having problems playing with the server (I only have one machine). i found where the desktop app can be accessed but it is showing the menu setup from the 4.52 version which I had tv listings, weather, and a few other plugins added but those of course dont work with the new 7+ version and when I go to try and access the shows that I recorded, I cannot get into that menu to access the recordings. So I went into the 4.52 version and unchecked those from showing. But when I go into the 7+ version the same menus are still showing. I am guessing it is using some sort of cache for the setup? I am at work and cannot attached any zip files for the moment.

One of the plugins I used was for all the movies that I have on a hard drive and I am hoping there is something similar for the newest version. I am very pleased overall with the change over to the newest version and Look forward to getting it going fully. Just looking for some tips/advice if possible with the limited information that I have provided so far.

comskip parallel processing not updating skips in Kodi

I have setup Coskip to parallel scan live-tv and create the skips while the record is processing. One limitation I have seen is Kodi does not update the skip points after the playback started. I changed the setting in Nextpvr Kodi client settings to 5 minutes for update intervals but nothing changed. Is there no way to get Kodi to update the skip points while viewing a recording in progress?

NextTool Error

Well its time for my big upgrade V4 to V7. New hardware after 8 Years.
I have been setting up the new box over the last few weeks. So I have a few questions, on some of the things I am stuck on.

First trying to run NextTool I get -
NextPvr - Version: 7.0.1.241229
NextTool -from wiki 2.5.0
and this error
C:\Users\Public\NPVR-data>dotnet NextTool.dll
A fatal error was encountered. The library 'hostpolicy.dll' required to execute the application was not found in 'C:\Users\Public\NPVR-data\'.
Failed to run as a self-contained app.
- The application was run as a self-contained app because 'C:\Users\Public\NPVR-data\NextTool.runtimeconfig.json' was not found.
- If this should be a framework-dependent app, add the 'C:\Users\Public\NPVR-data\NextTool.runtimeconfig.json' file and specify the appropriate framework.

Nextool on mac

Hi.

I installed nextool as follows:
- downloaded and unzipped NextTool-2.5.0.zip in my /opt/nextpvr/system/ directory (where my NextPVR program files are located);
- softlinked two files as follows (adapting the linux instructions):
sudo ln -s /opt/nextpvr/system/runtimes/osx-x64/native/libe_sqlite3.dylib
sudo ln -s /opt/nextpvr/system/runtimes/osx/native/libSkiaSharp.dylib

Then I tried to import a file:
dotnet NextTool.dll --import /Volumes/TV/Importing/Grammy.Awards.S01E66.mpg

and got these errors:

NextTool Unhandled exception

I'm having a problem running NextTool. Can anyone help please? I'm happy to provide any additional information. I googled which led me to install .NET 8.0 from:
https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/8.0.
I installed the Desktop runtime and the runtime, reset the system, same NextTool issue.
I tried this on another Windows 10 system, same result.

Installed NextTool-2.5.0 on Windows 10 into C:\Program Files\nextpvr\
Deleted NextTool.runtimeconfig.json and NextTool.deps.json before running NextTool for the first time
Opened a command window and typed:
cd c:\Program Files\NextPVR
NextTool --import "C:\Users\Public\Videos\NFL Football"

The local scan was not my area but I browsed to Iowa and got a long list of stations. There was one I was looking for (NewsRadio 600 WMT) present at the website but was missing in the scan. There were several AM stations didn't get added.

Radio stations for NextPVR

I went to update an addon I wrote for v6 but when I checked I couldn't find it so I may never actually released it.   That could explain the lack of feedback! The main purpose of NextRadio is to provide local radio to NextPVR using IPTV and or cheap SDR radio tuners.

To install

First unzip the attached into the NextPVR program folder, C:\Program Files\NextPVR or /opt/nextpvr/system/ and then

- on Windows delete the two JSON files and run NextRadio.exe,
- on Linux run sudo opt/dotnet/dotnet /opt/nextpvr/system/NextRadio.dll

1. For Internet radio

Running this will (should?) generate an m3u file with icons for IPTV in your data folder. On Windows go to IPTV and for the m3u file enter C:\Users\Public\NPVR-Data\Local Radio.m3u. On Linux that would be /var/opt/nextpvr/LocalRadio.m3u

The stations loaded will be the same as you have if you follow the link https://tunein.com/radio/local/ If that doesn't find your local stations go to https://tunein.com/radio/regions/ and navigate to the city that you want and check the URL it should end with -r#### Using Wellington NZ as an example that is https://tunein.com/radio/Stream-Wellington-r101620/ To manually add this you would add the parameter --rtid r101620 to the command The m3u file will be name CityName.m3u

If you want to confirm the radio stations that will be added use the --list parameter.

There are advanced options to install based on query too to add genres and specialized music. If you are interested let me know.

2. For SDR radio

SDR radio uses a program called rtl_fm to tune your FM stations. Windows and arm32 (for the RPi) programs are included but on Linux if you have it installed locally on Linux that will be used.   Instead of IPTV an extra is created called extra-rtlfm.xml and you select that directly from the device list. You will need to refresh the Device list the first time to get it loaded.

The parameter to install SDR radio is --sdr   In Canada and the the radio frequencies for you city are geolocated and loaded from this database https://db.wtfda.org/ For other countries all FM radio frequencies are selectable. You can add the --manual option in North America if your frequency is not showing.

After installing this I leave it to you to tweak the rtl_fm settings. These well be in Windows (C:\Users\Public\NPVR-data\scripts\nextradio\SDRadio.bat and Linux /var/opt/nextpvr/scripts/nextradio/SDRadio.sh Quite often the Internet radio will sound better but some users link to tinker with their hardware.

If you really only want SDR radio use --no-m3u

Icons for SDR radio will be added from Internet FM if they are found.

NextEnd Docker Install

Hi there,

I am a big formula 1 fan and would like to get NextEnd running to ensure my recordings finish correctly.

I have downloaded the latest release and have tried to follow the install instructions mentioned in the main thread for docker.

In the latest release download I can't see a file called NextEnd.deps.json so when I run the install command I get the error

sed: can't read NextEnd.deps.json: No such file or directory

I am probably missing something silly. Could anyone advise?

Comskipped videos played back on NextPVR desktop application halt on commercial break

Good afternoon. So I recently upgraded to NextPVR 6 after a bit of tussling. I'm not exactly friends with NPVR's top brass right now. But I digress.

So I played back a couple of videos that were recorded on NPVR 4. What I noticed was that the video, once it reached a commercial break, would stop playing instead of skipping past the commercial break into the next segment. I would have to right click on the app to stop the video, and then resume playing it from the recorded shows list.

This is happening on NPVR 6. NPVR 4 didn't have this issue. The break was identified on the timeline, skipped past it, and played the following segment of the show without any hesitation.

Anyone else aware of or have had this issue?

Comskip + NextEnd

Using ParallelProcessing, NextEnd works and also comskip, but seemingly not both together.

It's been a while since I tried this but I think if I have the script for NextEnd listed first and Comskip script on the next line only Nextend runs. In the logs I can tell Comskip never runs.

Ideally I would like to use both NextEnd and Comskip for watching in-progress recordings (like an MLB game) delayed.

Is it even possible to run both at the same time? If so, any advice on how to do this?

NextTool queue processing

I have updated NextTool with a mechanism that allows you to queue post and parallel processing until later, typically after the EPG update to reduce the impact on the server during prime recording time. Example and usage are explained on the wiki. https://github.com/sub3/NextPVR/wiki/NextTool If you have any usage questions let me know.

I personally use it to defer the creation of thumbs and comskip until overnight since I rarely watch recordings the same day. User with a fast enough CPU probably won't need this but I have found it very handy so far.

OlSkool skin for NextPVR v6

There are also a few easily user changeable options

You can change the colour of the navigation items & fonts.

Go to "C:\Program Files\NextPVR\data\skin\OlSkool(whichEverSkin)" & look for
"Global.xml.Bright-BrightBlue"
"Global.xml.Bright-BrightPurple"
"Global.xml.Bright-BrightRed"
"Global.xml.Mid-BrightGreen"

(close NextPVR.exe if you have it running) then pick the colour you would like to try & "copy" it somewhere out of "Program Files"
rename it back to "Global.xml" then move it back into "C:\Program Files\NextPVR\data\skin\OlSkool(whichEverSkin)" over writing the one in there.
(there are also a lot more options in the skin\OlSkoolwhichEverSkin\_Global folder) Itm=Item, Fnt=Font, B=Bright, D=Dark, M=Middle)

There are four options for the display of the Recordings views.

Guide.xml.(6Row)
Guide.xml.(10Row)

again the same basic procedure but in the skin\OlSkool(whichEverSkin)\TV Guide folder & for Guide.xml
Copy the one you want to try somewhere else then rename back to Guide.xml then move into the TV Guide folder overwriting the original.
(just a note for the 6Row guide it is best to also change the 120 in config.xml to 180 or 240)

NextTool for Windows question

When I use the “nexttool.exe --debug \\NUS2000\Media2\RECORDINGS” command line the command trace references xml documents with unexpected content. For example:

The NextTool.txt that is generated shows the exact same information. How can I determine what xml document haqs the unexpected content?

HDHRGuide

The utility HDHRGuide is designed to create an XMLTV file from the data provided by Silicondust for HDHR users. Silicondust DVR subscribers will get 2 weeks of rich metadata, without a subscription the data is only 24 hours and there is a little less data..

With the price increase of Schedules Direct the cost of the Silicondust DVR subscription matches the $35 year price. This is especially significant for Flex 4K owners with ATSC 3 signals since major networks in some cities are now beginning to enable DRM. Sadly for many, these stations will only playback using the HDHR app after Silicondust enables decryption, and they aren't quite there yet.   ATSC 3.0 broadcasts also typically require the HDHR app for playback because of AC-4 audio, but I will be releasing a Windows client for NextPVR that does AC-4 decoding later this weekend.

Notes:

- HDHRGuide is not a standalone utility, NextPVR must be installed.
- It is supposed to work for all countries that Silicondust supports however I have only tested it for Canada, US and UK. If it doesn't work in your country let me know.
- the DVR based guide uses the same ID as Schedules Direct so duplicates will not be recording. The 24 hr guides uses a different ID for series, movies are the same.
- 32bit Windows is not currently supported

To install on Windows

1. Download and unzip HDHRGuide-Win in C:\Program Files\NextPVR

2. Remove the HDHRGuide.runtimeconfig.json

3. Add the following to C:\Users\Public\NPVR-data\scripts\UpdateEPG.bat Create the file if it is not there.

4. Test by creating the first XMLTV file and adding the XMLTV file to the NextPVR configuration by running

5. Map channels to NextPVR on Settings->Channels-Advanced Tools using the XMLTV filename that should be in the dropdown list.

For Linux with the deb installer

1 Unzip into /opt/nextpvr/system and the full script for testing is, you don't need the first line in UpdateEpg.sh

2. Optionally delete HDHRGuide.exe
