I would like to give GBRecord92 a whirl since there don't seem to be other ways to digitize analog video with hardware MPEG-2 encoding.

I want to use a long-of-tooth Pentium 3 @667Mhz system and Windows XP SP3 for this project. This eliminates VirtualDub which wants at least a P4.

I have a Blackbird (Conexant 23880/23416) capture board, apparently pulled from an HP Media PC. HP's driver update installed successfully.

So far I am able to capture with DScaler 4.1.15, but only to AVI files at more than 1/2 GB per minute. I would definitely like to try my card's hardware MPEG-2 encoding to take advantage of much smaller file sizes and minimal CPU load. Doing this via a command line utility is no problem, so I am hoping someone has a copy of GBRecord that I could download or receive as a file attachment.

I really should upgrade to NPVR (and I have for a DVB-T card) but for my analogue cable I still use GBPVR. This is because I have yet to find a satisfactory channel changing solution in NPVR that can use my USB-UIRT to blast channel changes to my cable box.

Up till now I have been using a Hauppauge PVR250 card which works well. But I have upgraded to a Brix compact PC that only has USB so I need to find a USB hardware assisted capture solution. The two options that seem viable are the Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1900 or the Hauppauge HD PVR.

Documentation suggests the HVR-1950 (NTSC) version is supported but nothing for the HVR-1900 and I can't find anything for the HD PVR which is PAL/NTSC.

Can somebody help?

I tried looking in the bda.ini posting but while it mentions the bda.ini is posted, it's not and the links just loop back to each other!

Hi Fellow GBPVR users!!

I just thought of a nice hack if you are still using My Videos to display Fanart and Movie sheets.

1. You can use thumbgen (or whatever software you want) to create a movie sheet
2. In My Videos create an external player - call it "Info"
3. Instead of sending it to an external media player send it to a batch file which launches a picture viewer with the movie sheet as a parameter
4. Set your remote control to close the program after your press "exit" on your remote control

If it is Picasa or something you can then actually use the scroll buttons to scroll through the different jpgs in that directory - say more fanart.

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone else is having problems with the Discovery Channel listing using Schedules Direct. I have my max days set to 13 and it seems like it loads erroneous dat for a lot of shows / times. I have it set to do a complete reload every night but the bad data stays there. I've been in contact with SD and they showed me how to see the data on their end and when I do their end shows the proper data. I don't have this issue on any other channel, only Discovery.

If I manually empty the EPG's for all of my tuners and reload them the data will be right. It is confusing because I don't know how that bad data gets in there in the first place and why it isn't corrected nightly when the EPG is updated.

The "bad data" is not garbage or the wrong channel or anything, just the wrong shows at the wrong times - but all are Discovery shows.

Any thoughts / advice is greatly appreciated.

I recently bought a new PC (Windows 8) and installed a PVR-2250 card. I opted to stay with GBPVR - version 1.4.7 - because I use it almost exclusively with my four MVPs. I also only enabled analog channels.

Although the system works flawlessly when viewing on the MVPs, I can't watch anything on the PC. The program immediately closes when I hit "play". I suspect the problem is on the recording side, rather than playback, since I get the same results when I attempt to view a recording on WinTV, i.e., the program immediately shuts down. I can, however, watch shows on WinTV that were recorded on WinTV.

Before I try reinstalling the program, has anyone had this problem?

I knew this was coming from Comcast that they are converting to digitaltv and my mutiple legacy tuners coming to the end. I received the message "If you can see this message, the TV your're watching isn't yet ready for Comcast's digital network enhancements". It is my time to cancel my basic cable TV and use OTA exclusively now .

I have great times with GBPVR and enjoy it over the years.

Thanks Sub.
