I have just moved from wmc to nextpvr, all good so far except a few epg problems, but one difference I have noticed is if you are recording on one channel and you want to watch the next one when it starts, with wmc to can just click on the channel you are recording a few minutes before the next one starts and it plays in real time so you don't miss the beginning of the next programme (especially useful if you have padding at the end of the recording). however with nextpvr if you try this you go to the recording and it starts from the beginning. Is there a way of enabling it to watch the channel in real time whilst still recording?
I think I may have come across a bug in NEWA that causes all recordings in NPVR to be deleted. Last night my wife deleted an episode of Who Do You Think You Are at 20:14. A minute later all recordings in NPVR were progressively deleted.
Today I confirmed that all it takes is a single click on the checkbox at the top of the recordings listing in NEWA (in the old style view i.e. ip_addr/manage.aspx rather than the new style at ip_addr/manage2.aspx). I have also confirmed that it occurs on two different computers and browsers (tested on both iMac OSX10.10 in Safari and Win7Pro in IE11). I have included the logs after doing this testing. It would be great to find a solution but at least I can tell my wife that it was the stupid computer's fault!
Just a thought, but - a remote player would be nice, one that allows a person to use NextPVR on different machines (and mobiles?), and all players keep the last played position ... so pick up on one machine, after watching on another?
Really very impressed by NextPVR - this is my last hurdle, then I can get rid of all other tools ... .
It appears my NPVR.log file is getting LOTS of spurious MCE event messages.
Here's a small sample;

I'm not sure when this started but it's possible it was after updating from Win 8.1 Pro to Win 10 Pro. I spent a bunch of time eliminating NPVR plugins (TV Listings, Volume), other input devices, etc as the source before realizing that disabling the NextPVR "Handle MCE Remote Events" setting on the Misc2 screen stopped the messages. (Green button start disabled too.)
The messages are being logged even when NPVR is in full screen mode but is not the foreground window.
The Remote's USB receiver has a red LED that flashes when receiving IR signals from the remote but the LED does not flash when not actually using the remote. (It doesn't appear to be triggering on spurious sources).
Any suggestions would be appreciated as the remote occasionally comes in handy to control NPVR and I've been forced to disable it in NPVR to avoid the excessive logging.
Can all NPVR logging be disabled? I understand how valuable logs can be when issues occur but I prefer disabling logging when not troubleshooting.
What are the valid values for LogLevel in config.xml? I've searched for info with no luck.
Any help would be appreciated. NPVR.log (sanitized) attached.
Last night my wife deleted a program that she had just watched (FYI it was the latest Grand Designs, she deleted it at approximately 7:30pm?). She then noticed that every recording had been deleted. I checked the computer and every file and folder that had been recorded by NPVR across two drives had been deleted, only leaving a couple of files and folders that had been placed there manually. I restarted the computer and scanned one of the drives overnight but it does not appear to be a hardware problem and that all NPVR recordings have actually been deleted. I am going to try and recover the deleted files (ouch) but I was hoping that the logs might tell the story as to how the happened so that I don't do it again! TIA.
After you have scanned for channels and have a nice list of them, are they stored somewhere? I can't find them.
The thought would be to take this "list" and move it to a different computer in the future. Saving having to scan all over again.
I sometimes use NextPVR with Kodi on 3 PC's/2 x Tablets and some phones.
I wish that
- TV Recording metadata was stored in .nfo files, directories, separate from the DB or .ts files.
- TV Recording directories could be moved and the only settings that need to be changed in NPVR would be the location of the directories. (like WMC)
- TV Recordings could be archived to network locations on a schedule. As an added extra at a slowed speed so as to not impact on other recordings or live tv. (like WMC with WHS)
I am trying to use Nutility.dll in my app, but if I try to run my executable anywhere except for program files\NPVR, I get this exception:
{"The type initializer for 'NUtility.DatabaseHelper' threw an exception."}
Which has an inner exception of
{"The type initializer for 'System.Data.SQLite.SQLiteFactory' threw an exception."}
If I compile my exe and put it in the program files\npvr directory, it runs fine. Can anyone tell me how to make it so my exe can run anywhere (including the debugger)? Is there something I can do to my code so it can find the SQLite database correctly, if that is why it is failing?
I have been enjoying using npvr for a couple years now. I love it but have been having a recurrent problem. Every 4 - 6 months it seems the EPG just stops updating. I have searched the forum with no suggested solutions working for me, but found in the past a reinstall or installing the new version has fixed the problem for me. This time upgrading hasn't worked for me, neither has deleting and rescanning my channels. Any help on this problem would be appreciated. Thanks so much! BTW I am upgrading using xmltv
