This problem has occurred several times since I've upgraded to version 3.3.8 (once every week or so).
I had 2 shows set to record this past Sunday, Dec. 7. One at 10:00 a.m. and the other at 7:00 p.m. The first show recorded successfully, but the second show did not record due to the error specified in the title.
From looking at the NRecord logs, it looks like the recording service may have suddenly quit running at 2:20 p.m., right after the log message that reads "Cycling MVP servers". I'm not sure... I'm relatively new to MPVR (began with version 3.2.9).
When I looked at the Windows services, the NPVR Recording Service was not running. I was able to manually restart the service. There doesn't seem to be an issue with the service starting when the computer restarts. Each time I shutdown or restart, the service is running when the computer comes back up.
Help would be greatly appreciated. I love NPVR and its associated scripting capabilities, but it has been very unreliable lately.
I am starting to use XBMC more as a front end now, and when playing from the recordings view, the resume option is not there for me. In reading around, it seems sub may have added this feature in 1.9.6? Or maybe it didnt make it?
Couple of questions:
1)I've just updated to the latest and greatest 3.3.8 and can't find the episode search tab any more - has this gone or do I need to turn it on somewhere? The episode search tab exists on the iphone interface but searches can't be saved from there
2)My old install kept hanging on the channel mapping screen, so for ease I renamed the NPVR profile directory, uninstalled the program and then started again. Is there any way to get my old recording schedules back or are they gone for good? There wasn't a huge amount so reentering isn't drastic if its a complicated route back.
Resume of playback is not functioning for me; near as I can figure, this began after I upgraded to the latest version months ago. (Mrs. weisguy only now notified me of the issue).
[x] Prompt for resume in video library
... is checked. Don't know what else to check and searched like crazy for someone having the same issue; apologies if I have overlooked a thread and any assistance is appreciated. In the attached logs the last thing I did was play a video, stop, and restart.
so I've been running NPVR for about a year and I've been very happy with it!! Thank you all who have built, contributed, and maintained this fantastic application. I did run into a problem I haven't seen on the support forum.
First my current setup:
Zbox HTPC
Windows 7
2 Hauppauge HDPVR2 connected to 2 DTV tuners
NPVR 3.3.8
I recently added a client to the setup to watch tv in the bedroom. I got the setup working and it functions perfectly except when you are watching tv in the living room and try to watch a different channel in the bedroom. When you select a different channel it freezes while trying to access the second turner. I can tell it tries to start up the HDPVR2 as the light strip goes yellow as if it is starting a recording. If you are watching the same channel in both rooms it works perfectly. I also found that if you are watching tv in the bedroom first and try to watch a different channel in the living room the server will freeze while trying to access the second turner.
I would expect that it would use the first tuner for the living room and then when the bedroom is being used, it would stream live tv using the second tuner, it just cant fully start it. The logs from the client are attached below. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!!
I am a new user, and have a UI problem. To select a program from the grid display, I need to click a little lower on the screen than where the program box actually appears. The issue gets progressively more severe as I move down from the top of the grid to the bottom - so to select a program on the top row of the grid, I can actually click in the grid or slightly lower; but to select a program on the sixth row I need to click about two inches below the program listing. So it seems as if each row of the listing grid is actually about 25% taller than it appears on screen. I am able to select any show, I just have learned that I need to click in the wrong place, especially for shows lower down on the grid listing. Also the keyboard arrows work fine for selecting shows. I have no such problem with the default NPVR TV Guide grid - it works properly, but lacks some of the nice features of TV Listings. I am using default skins and settings for most everything, so I don't believe that I've done anything to cause this issue.
Any advice on how to fix this minor annoyance would be appreciated. Thank you,
As an long user of NPVR/NMT --- I may have finally found a solid move here. So far FireTV+XBMC Gotham seems functional/fast and smooth. Most importantly, FireTV/XBMC Gotham seems to decode the MPEG2 captured broadcast streams without issue -- unlike most HW based media players. Perhaps this is because MPEG2 decode is done in SW on this unit? If so, it has enough CPU to handle the job. With the recent sale price of $69 for a FireTV I couldn't pass it up and so far so good.
NPVR plugin functions well.
Only significant issue I have is that when viewing my recordings via XMBC video library, I lose the valuable show metadata NPVR lays down from the EPG. When using the native NPVR client, or NMT extender -- show meta data (what the episode was about) -- appears in the UI. Is there anyway to get this same information to display through XBMC?
Even in the "Recordings" view of the NPVR add-on, I do not see this metadata/show info.
Thanks a bunch for your help and ideas....I am pretty new to the XBMC world so maybe missing something I should be doing.
Still feeling a bit outwitted by this. So these are the first few results from iGL postprocessing "C:\Program Files\NPVR\imageGrabLite.exe" --oid %3 --rename --nfo
Octonauts.S03E340..ts
Chuggington.2014-12-07.Blazin' Wilson Children's animation.ts
Strictly Come Dancing.S03E340..ts
Peppa Pig.S03E341..ts
Why is everything being named season 3 episode 340 and (therefore?) missing its subtitle, except Chuggington? Is the subtitle coming from TVDB, or being passed over by NPVR from the recording metadata/EPG info?
As an aside; none of these are being 'read' correctly by XBMC yet, but that maybe subject to another post once I can understand the logic of the renaming.
For reference, I'm tring to implement a simple alarmclock/sleep mode plugin; it seemed an easy starting point.
Starting up LiveTV is simple enough:
PluginHelperFactory.GetPluginHelper().PlayLiveTV( /* optional channel */ )
Even getting the channel is reasonably easy, starting from Channel.LoadAll() and iterating till I find the one I want.
But how do I make it _stop_ correctly?
I've found two big pitfalls so far:
PluginHelperFactory.GetPluginHelper().GetPlaybackProxy().Stop()
a) Doesn't appear to actually exit the live TV mode. The OSD is still shown, and keyboard input resopnds as though in live mode (showing channel list etc.)
Even adding PluginHelperFactory.GetPluginHelper().ActivateScreen(this) didn't help.
b) And what if something else has already manually exited live mode? I can easily enough check if GetPlaybackProxy() is returning null - but I'd actually quite like to pick back up and have my plugin start doing stuff again.
I thought maybe I'd get an Activate() call, but I omly get that when you go in via the menu. I suspect the secret is going to be needing to register some form of callback?
So yeah, how do I do this?
(While I'm at it, there's some nastiness with PlayLiveTV() crashing if the screensaver is currently running. I addd BlockScreenSaver() and that seems to fix it.)
