Tonight Time Warner encrypted the last few local channels on my cable. All I have left is Disney.

A few months ago I had a pretty good selection of clearQAM channels, basically most all locals + WGN and Disney (somewhere around 22 good channels). Then sometime around early August most of the channels suddenly disappeared; they were moved & encrypted I guess, as the frequencies they'd been on now had no channels. I was down to 7 channels: CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox, KTLA (the CW), WGN, & Disney, but it actually was fine, it covered 90% of what I wanted to watch and I was probably watching too much TV anyway. Then about two weeks ago WGN disappeared, but at least Manhattan had already wrapped for the season so it was a bummer but not immediately tragic. Then last week KTLA was encrypted, and it was on the same frequency as CBS so I knew the other shoe was about to drop. I spent some time fiddling with some indoor antennas I had (I've moved to an apartment and am not permitted to have an outdoor antenna), and I managed to get KTLA back. But the VHF channels including ABC & Fox weren't detected at all, while CBS & NBC are pretty choppy. Now tonight my recordings of Jeopardy and The Shark Tank on ABC are blank-screen, and a scan reveals that the only clearQAM channel I have left is Disney. My daughter loves "Dog with a Blog", and the new Star Wars Rebels animated series is not entirely terrible, but otherwise I have no use for Disney. Presumably that one will be encrypted soon too.

I'm debating what to do. I think my first try will be this: http://www.frys.com/product/8319787?site...IN_RSLT_PG. The idea of giving up on broadcast TV altogether does cross my mind, aside from NFL Football on Sundays I can probably get most of what I want to watch with streaming services. There are surely ways to watch football online too if I try. Of course that means I'd have no further use for NextPVR... Sad

I am trying to get the new(ish) videos view to show for a TV series I'm playing with & nothing I do will get the sod to show, so I suspect I have some basic error(s) with the nfo files I'm creating.... they are attached in the zip if some kind soul who knows more than me would have a look see..... please

(& no google hasn't really been my friend on this one it just shoves me all over the place & make me spend hours trying things out)

I have also attached an image of the directory showing all the file that are in there

  Can the NPVR client play avi recordings?
Posted by: vmq - 2014-11-19, 03:33 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

I just set up a client PC, using NPVR as the client software, and wondered why none of my recordings played. I have postprocessing set up to trancode into avi and rename/adjust the entry in npvr.db3.

On the server these recordings play just fine, but on the client I noticed that when I select such a file there is a short pause and
then NPVR returns to the screen where I selected to play the recording.

Live TV and not transcoded recordings (.ts) play just fine.

Is it expected that avi files do not play on clients through the recordings screen, but play on the server recordings screen?

  nscripthelper -rename removed recording from db
Posted by: NYPlayer - 2014-11-18, 07:13 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (2)

I was testing a rename of a show it appears even though it says it renames it ... it actually deletes the entry from the NPVR DB. It does not rename the DB entry.

  Watched Status XBMC PVR and XBMC -X-NEWA.

A watched Status is really needed in the XBMC PVR and X-NEWA. There is no way right now to tell what you have watched and not watched or how much of a show you have watched.

  I want to start developing plugins...but how?
Posted by: OrenShapir - 2014-11-18, 01:12 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (6)

Hi all,

I moved from SageTV after 12 years and now I have a working NPVR server (3 analog STBs + 1 DVB-S) & client across my home.
All in all the move was NOT painfull as I expected it to be Big Grin survived the WAF...

I already "played" with skins and translation (I need Hebrew & right-to-left skin) - all done, no problem.
I already made a tool for managing shows directly in the NPVR DB - moving, renaming, etc.

But now I want to start developing new plugins - as I know C++ & VB/XOJO.
(working for the last 3 years with XOJO for its cross platform feature so the I don't feel at home in the Visual Studio environment)
I read every post and the WIKI but still...I don't know how to start :confused:

1. What free programming environment to install? Visual studio express 2013 or Visual studio Community 2013?
2. Do I need more files to build the DLL? (Tried the Test4 & TEST3 projects SUB posted under visual studio express 2013 and got errors while building - NUTILITY missing???)
3. Are there any open source plugins that I can learn from?

Thanks!
Oren.

  Duplicate recording Scheduled in NEWA?
Posted by: jksmurf - 2014-11-18, 01:10 PM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (17)

Hi UJB

I run this is PostUpdateEPG.bat

Code:
"C:\Program Files (x86)\NPVR\NEWA_AutoSearch.exe"

and ALSO have AutoRecords scheduled in NEWA, so I can understand why I might sometimes get duplicate shows Auto-Scheduled to Record.
What I am struggling to understand is why I am (since 338) ALSO getting duplicate shows in the EPG??

Thanks

k.

  Non-Unique Unique_id......
Posted by: gEd - 2014-11-18, 12:02 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

I was tempted to title this thread, "toast always falls jam side down..."

Last night, NPVR just failed to record this show for my wife.
Title=Strictly Come Dancing
Subtitle=Strictly Come Dancing: The Results: Part Two"
Season=12
Episode=9
Unique_id=Strictly Come Dancing-S012E009

and the reason is that the previous evening, we watched and then deleted

Title=Strictly Come Dancing
Subtitle=Part One
Season=12
Episode=9
Unique_id=Strictly Come Dancing-S012E009

2014-11-16 05:12:49.787 [DEBUG][10] LoadListingsMatchingTitle(channel=7612,title=Strictly Come Dancing)

2014-11-16 05:12:49.791 [DEBUG][10] ...this episode is on Sunday
2014-11-16 05:12:49.791 [DEBUG][10] ...valid days are: SUNDAY
2014-11-16 05:12:49.792 [DEBUG][10] ...already got this episode: Strictly Come Dancing-S012E009 (recently deleted)
2014-11-16 05:12:49.792 [DEBUG][10] ...already got this episode scheduled

bugger.

It just *had* to be the wifes' show and not mine didn't it. So that's multiple months of kudos for reliable recording out of the window then..! I hope you feel my pain.

So it appears that the broadcaster is not sending out unique_id's after all then. I think the idea is that "an episode" of "Strictly" is comprised of the show on saturday evening and then the results show on sunday.

I have disabled avoid duplicate recordings for the time being but I find this feature really useful and am loathe to loose this feature just b/c of this "damn programme".

Any advice on what I can do next?
Would it be feasible to submit a feature request to include the option to generate a unique_id based on title+subtitle+SXXXEYYY?

cheers

  NSriptHelper

Hello all. I've run into a problem with NScriptHelper since I've updated NPVR. Now, when it runs to rename my recordings it is inserting the "Genre" instead of the "Subtitle". I've traced the OID in the database and the object in EPG_Event does have a valid subtitle. The "event_details" field in the SCHEDULED_RECORDINGS table also has a subtitle. This is happening to every program I record.

A typical filename update in NScriptHelper is below:

[...startup]

  Recording stopping short of scheduled times.

Realized that I had the drive set to FAT32. Switched it to NTFS, and that solved the problem. Smile

Went ahead and edited this post so it wouldn't get bumped unnecessarily. This thread can be deleted.
