  Nextpvr channel - roku
Posted by: psycik - 2013-07-17, 05:43 AM - Forum: Add-ons (3rd party plugins, utilities and skins) - Replies (14)

I'm wondering if anyone has tried look at development for the roku in the hope of getting recording on there?

There is a nextpvr channel. And while I've Installed it I've not played

  XBMC 13 Compatibility?
Posted by: werkkrew - 2013-07-16, 11:31 PM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (2)

I have been following the development of XBMC 13 pretty closely and they seem to have changed most of their PVR API. Is there any news as to how compatible NextPVR is going to be with this? Is there any news on the current state of development of the NextPVR XBMC Plugin?

There are a few really annoying bugs at the moment.

NPVR status reports hardware which is not present in settings
Posted by: meep - 2013-07-16, 09:06 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (2)

Hi

I've been using nextPVR as an XBMC backend and have been successfully using a Digital Devices PCIe Octopus with Duflex S2 expansion card to provide 2x DVB-S2 tuners. This all works well.

This week, I've added a DuoFlex C/T expansion card to add a couple of digital terrestrial tuners.

When I access NextPVR Settings -> Devices, the DVB-T tuners show up as not present. However, if I right click on the npvr icon in system tray and choose show status, all 4 tuners (2x DVB-S and 2x DVB-T) tunrs show in the pop-up window.

Any idea why a device will show up OK in status but not report as present in settings?

Thanks

Peter

Still using analog cable, need advice for quality image
Posted by: Flow - 2013-07-16, 02:44 PM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (24)

Hi everyone,

I am new to the PVR side of things running XBMC for years and decided it would be nice to get into PVR stuff!

Well well, it has been a few days now, lots of searching for hardware, forums reading... I bought an Hauppauge 2250, right away I saw the image quality was much worse than just having the cable plugged in my tv.

So searching for more I understand that MPEG2 compression is probably a reason for a significant lower quality. I then bought an ATI TV Wonder 750 USB! It fails as a it is USB and will just lose signal...

So what I'm looking to know is that ATI seems to have better analog cable support and Pcie versions TV Wonder 650 does have compression, 750 does not, wouldn't it be better that it does not have such compression so the image quality is better? I can't really find info on the subject since I guess almost everyone now uses digital but here with Videotron analog is still available and suits me.

Btw, my htpc hardware sports an AMD E-350 and I wonder if it will be enough to support a software encoder and if my 6310 onboard graphics be useful in that regard?

I'm open to suggestion, I do realize analog tv tuners will never look as good as the tuner in my tv but looking for the best quality possible. Also, is there much difference in using softencode in NPVR vs a hw encoder?

Tried changing between MPEG2 decoders made no difference. Found some posts on re-registering using regex commands and ran those hasn't seemed to change anything either.

HBO working in WMC but not NPVR
Posted by: jbaruch76 - 2013-07-14, 09:39 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (9)

I recently had cablecard issues so HBO would not work anywhere. After speaking to Verizon it now works in WMC, but when I open an HBO channel in NPVR it goes black and then a green screen pops up and stays there.

  MP3 decoder merit
Posted by: Reddwarf - 2013-07-14, 12:01 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

When I go into Music in nextpvr and it to play an mp3 file I understand that it just asks DirectShow to play the file. Anyone know how I can set the preferred decoder in a windows 64bit environment? I have tried a couple of filter managers but it doesn't seem to work, I suspect they only work on 32bit systems?

How does npvr determine channel number? + two hauppauge ir blasters
Posted by: jam_zhou - 2013-07-14, 04:22 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

OK, it's kind of related to another thread I had a long time ago but with a slight difference.

setup:
two set top boxes
hauppauge hvr 1800 - s video input
hauppauge hd-pvr - component input
hauppauge mc receiver and remote
two blasters
using LM Gestion remote
mc2xml for the epg data

Here's my problem: I grab a whole bunch of channels that are not necessarily in sequential order and when NPVR grabs them it assigns random channel numbers to them. Shouldn't it get the channel number form the xml file? I see that one of the entries is just the channel number. Otherwise I'd have to manually assign over 100 channels? There's got to be a better way.

In my other thread the idea was that it separates the analog from the HD but in this scenario it doesn't even get the analog channels correct. It assigns a channel number sequentially and doesn't take notice of the required channel to blast.

On another note, I'm going to replace the hvr 1800 with a colossus which means now I'll have two ir blasters. I only want to use one of the blasters, will the blaster software always pick the same one?

"TV Listings.dll" is causing NPVR to crash on startup.
Posted by: MarkHotchkiss - 2013-07-14, 03:41 AM - Forum: TV Listings - Replies (4)

Hello all, especially Alibert,

I am new to NextPVR, having only installed it yesterday. So it's likely that I am doing something wrong, as I have found no one else with this particular problem.

NPVR has been working fine for the past day, but I found the TV guide to be rather anemic. So I attempted to install the "TV Listing" plug-in by copying the the appropriate files into the data folder. Once I did, and then restarted NPVR, I received an "Unhandled exception" dialog box from "Microsoft .NET Framework" before the NPVR screen even opened. Here is what is says:

Collecting Shows - Got to get them all
Posted by: theason - 2013-07-13, 11:13 PM - Forum: Developers - Replies (3)

Has anybody already developed something that would enable me to track episodes from a series that I've already recorded? In particular, for something like children's cartoons. Same title every time, but buried in the description is enough detail to hopefully tell which ones I already have. For example, say I wanted to record all the episodes of a cartoon on various channels for the next year that I do not already have. Hopefully the network loops through all of the episodes and eventually I can collect them all. I also have a very finite amount of disk space for NPVR, so keeping all of the recordings on disk for the next year while they play through the list a few times isn't realistic.

I'll remove the commercials and move them off to my NAS every few days, and serve them up for my two year old to watch from the IPad over and over and over; minus all the commercials Smile

So things like the "new" indicator in the listings are not helpful to me, nor can I keep a hundred episodes of each cartoon locally for NPVR to review against.
