Record New Reoccurring on All (Any) Channels
Posted by: Carey - 2013-02-19, 04:22 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (11)

I'm new to NextPVR. I'm a long time SageTV user considering switching to NextPVR. And I'm hoping someone can help answer this question. I have been searching Google and this forum, and I think I know the answer but would like confirmation.

I set almost all my scheduled recordings on SageTV to be new, reoccurring, and for any channels, and SageTV decides which channel at which time to record my fav shows.

I seem to be missing something with NextPVR in this regard. I see only one option in Record that comes close "Record Season (NEW Episodes on this channel)". Is there a way to set up recordings for something like "Record Season (NEW Episodes on ALL channels)"?

The advantage I see in this option is to avoid conflicts since the same show is often on numerous channels, at least in my lineup/area. And then I can get as many fav shows recorded in the least amount of time with the recorder deciding when to select a show. The other advantage I've seen is when a channel drops a show when it goes on hiatus and is still picked up at some later date on a different channel. That probably rarely happens, but it gives me a sense of security that I never have to worry about missing a new episode cause I using the wrong channel.

Thanks for the advice and helping with my new-user learning curve.

  recording types
Posted by: fluffykeith - 2013-02-19, 02:43 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (16)

Hi

I have moved from gbpvr to npvr and I think the recording types have changed in some way. Can someone clarify them.

Record once is obvious.
but Record daily , week days, etc, the wiki says that recordings will be made on any of the selected range of days for the given type and "at the set time".
What does "at the set time" mean - does it ignore the program title and just record the timeslot regardless?

The season recording, I selected as I want recordings regardless on their exact timing. But I got none pending.

This leads to a host of queries:
did I get none because I have recordings of the same title but different episode name?
did I get none because they are not NEW but probably repeats from last year or something.

how do I get recordings that may not be a series or just an old series and could be any time of day.

also How do I get the Archive recording popup menu? is there a remove button or keyboard key assigned?

cheers

NPVR Server sleeps while XBMC is playing video files
Posted by: skinny - 2013-02-19, 07:58 AM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (7)

I've been playing with Openelec 3.0 RC2 on a client which works very well with NPVR as back-end server with one small issue.

When watching a recording on the NPVR server, (or a video file on the server) the server will enter sleep mode whenever it wants, it's currently set to sleep after 10 min idle.
Server is Windows 7 Home Premium, power settings - When sharing media - Prevent idling to sleep

I'm not sure if this is a server or client issue, can someone point me in the right direction?

NPVR on Windows 8 w/ HDHomeRun -- Black Screen
Posted by: nomoreheroes7 - 2013-02-19, 02:08 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (11)

Hi all,

I have been tinkering around trying to get NPVR to work on my Windows 8 computer with HDHomeRun Prime for the past couple months with no success. I've got Windows 8 Pro x64 w/ Windows Media Center (which works great with live TV in WMC). However, I can't get NPVR to give me anything other than a black screen when I switch to live TV. I've tried allowing all programs in C:/program files/npvr through Windows firewall, tried disabling the firewall, installed the R2 patches, installed DirectX 9.0c runtimes and Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 runtimes, used all number of combinations of decoders, and even tried uninstalling/disabling WMC as I've heard it can cause issues with NPVR. I tried all of this on a Windows 7 x64 laptop that I have using EVR renderer, PDVD12 for both video decodings, and LAV audio for all audio decoding and everything worked great. Any help would sincerely be appreciated.

Log folder attached.

Thanks!

  Another XBMC EPG problem
Posted by: saitoh183 - 2013-02-18, 09:49 PM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (9)

So a quick rundown of my setup

2 XBMC clients managed by MySQL

Main XBMC client (one that has NPVR) EPG updates fine and everything runs smoothly.

Second client gets stuck on getting EPG updating.
NPVR addon is configured with the IP and port of Main XBMC machine (where NPVR is located)

Code:
AddOnLog: NextPVR PVR Client: settings: host='192.168.13.101', port=8866

Code:
EPG - EPG::CEpg::Load - no database entries found for table 'SRC'. EPG - EPG::CEpg::UpdateFromScraper - updating EPG for channel 'SRC' from client '1' Thread EPG updater 3932 terminating

I tried:

- Resting Live TV DB and EPG (Reseting EPG while update window is open causes lockup)
- Renaming TV22 and EPG7.db
- Copying EPG7 from Main XBMC

Any advice?

Edit...here is the Web.log for when i was trying to get it to work

I didn't notice anything under "settings".

  Channellogo size
Posted by: Reddwarf - 2013-02-18, 08:21 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

What size should the tvchannel logos be? Do they have to be square and have a number of pixels that is a square of 2? And if a logo picture is bigger, does NextPVR resize it or crop it or just ignore it?

  Understanding recurring recordings
Posted by: ydekmekji - 2013-02-18, 05:01 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (5)

I've got a recurring recording set up for my kids cartoon, "Curious George." I've set it up to record every day from 8-8:30am and to keep five. In other words, on day 6, it would get rid of the oldest one and record the newest.

But what's happening is that i've noticed it's stopped recording. On the TV guide, it's not red anymore that it's pending. It's set up as a recurring recording, but it's not registering it to do it. I've attached my logs. When this happened last time, I ran a command to flush the database. It seems the logic says that if i have recorded and deleted it, it won't re-record it. I just want the five latest episodes--whether or not we've previously recorded it.

Add-on does not have the correct structure
Posted by: Robjpfoster - 2013-02-18, 04:28 PM - Forum: X-NEWA - Replies (1)

Hey Guys,

Hoping this is a fairly easy one. Trying to install the X-Newa add-on for the first time and receiving "Add-on does not have the correct structure error".

I am using ATV with latest XBMC and trying to add it through zip. Attempted to download the package to both my MAC and Windows machine with the same result when attempting to add it.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

NPVR version of WizRenameRecordings? What's this IGL, then?
Posted by: Braklet - 2013-02-18, 04:15 PM - Forum: Add-ons (3rd party plugins, utilities and skins) - Replies (20)

I'm in the process of moving from GB-PVR to NPVR. My current recording flow involves the WizRenameRecording utility, so I'm looking for something else that will support simultaneous file renaming and database modification. Ideally this would operate on a single recording basis since I'm happy with my recording archive as-is and am not quite ready for a wholesale database migration.

Searching for forae leads me to Martin's ImageGrabLite. I have absolutely no idea how to use it. The CLI help text seems a bit sparse:

Code:
C:\Program Files\NPVR>imageGrabLite.exe --help Syntax: imageGrabLite [--oid # | --updateepg ] [--first] [--zap2it] [--language xx]

Checked the Wiki and found IGL listed on the SearchLite page. Doesn't say much about renaming recordings.

First of all, is ImageGrabLite appropriate for single recording renaming, and secondly is there a rank n00b guide to this stuff?

My alternative is manual DB and filename modification, which blows.

TIA!
