NPVR - streaming live TV possible?
Posted by: advarp - 2013-02-18, 10:42 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (14)

Hello everyone,

I have spent quite some time looking for a plugin / other way to add an URL to a web TV destination (and play it using VLC or whatever, no matter), to no avail. I have managed to do that for radio with the WebRadio plugin, but not with live (or recorded news etc but available via streaming off the web) TV.

Can anyone pls help in this matter? I cannot believe such a feature is not present - I can understand WMC, but NPVR? lol... I have not tried pasting a URL into WebRadio but I suspect it will not work (tried in WMC to access live TV using their Tune plugin actually, but no go there either. I live in Australia so I cannot even see the Internet TV option in WMC for example...). I know some / (all?) of this kind of stuff is Flash based - but perhaps not all? And if so then why not a plugin using Flash the same way it uses VLC (I may be saying something stupid here) ?

Thank you

PS I have looked at NEWA as well as they talk about streaming there but there was NO WAY of accessing the config page they talk about, no tabs on that anywhere just guide, recording etc... I am stumped...

Pending recordings not updating with listings
Posted by: ub435-q v2 - 2013-02-17, 10:21 PM - Forum: TV Listings - Replies (1)

I don't know if I should post this here or in the general support forum. I am using NPVR and TV listings plugin. I use MC2XML to get schedule from Zap2It via Microsoft. The schedule typically spans 10-14 days. I find the TV Listings plugin very useful and much better than the built-in Guide and Recordings. Here is my issue.

Sometimes a pending recording will be removed from the listings but remains as a pending recording. Say on 2-14-2013 I schedule a recording for 2-22-2013 from 8-9pm called "Some Show." A few days later the listings update and list the show as being "Another Show." This is not the show pending. If I look at the Pending Recordings, it still shows "Some Show" in the list. If I select it and choose "find more" it shows no results at all. If I look in the TV Listings, I see a red line indicating a recording, but I do not see a red dot indicating what is scheduled (I would think it at least would show for the channel scheduled). At the time of the recording, it will record "Another Show" but will list it as "Some Show" instead. Until I watch the show, I have no indication that it is the wrong show. This can be a problem if the show has multiple listings or is changed to another time like 2-24-2013 at 9-10pm. I will likely miss the next airing and lose the chance to see it since I assume I already recorded it. It's not an issue so much if it was just canceled and will not air again anyway. Is there a way to fix this issue?

When I schedule something for 8-9pm and the listings change the same show to 8:01-9:03pm, it will adjust for this automatically and I will still get the full show. It seems this issue would be similar to that and should be able to be fixed in a similar way. It would seem. We all know how that is. This is really just an annoyance more often than not. I already fixed my schedule, so I don't see any issues right now and a log would reflect that so I guess it wouldn't be any help. It would be nice to at least see the show in Conflicting Recordings or something so it would be easier to spot. If there is a way to fix on my end, let me know. Maybe I'm missing some setting. If it is just a general limitation let me know that... let me know whatever it is. Thanks.

EDIT: I just thought of this. You could add a new feature that would list changes like Changed Listings. In that area, the scheduled programs that have changed would be listed giving a much easier way to keep track and make changes like deleting (if not automatically done) or finding alternate listings of that program. This would be a new feature request. I don't know if anyone else would find it useful though. If anybody reading this would find it useful reply stating so. Thanks again.

New Reply to Dual HDMI port - No Audio on HDMI 2
Posted by: oasistech - 2013-02-17, 05:27 PM - Forum: Hardware - No Replies

Recently I installed a new XBMC HTPC that has two HDMI ports. The HTPC is running on Windows 7 pro with Intel Graphics and Media Controls.

I want to setup the XBMC to run under two scenes (Standard and Surround Sound).

During installation, I ran an HDMI cable from HTPC port 1 to the HT Receiver and another cable from the HT Receiver to the HDTV port 1. Next, I ran a third HDMI cable from HTPC port 2 to the HDTV port 2.

Within the Graphics properties, I set the multiple display settings to Clone.

At this stage, if I use HDTV port 2, I have video but no audio. HDTV port 1 works great with the surround sound.

Any suggestions?

Thank you.

Raspberry Pi + Raspbmc first look
Posted by: PatM - 2013-02-17, 03:40 PM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (9)

Bought a RPi and wanted to see how it did as a NextPVR client. Haven't actually gotten as far as the NPVR Plugin as I just got it home last night after work.

I found a Debian distro called RaspBMC and it has a nice little windows utility that sets up an SD Card to install RaspBMC. Takes only a minute. http://www.raspbmc.com/

I plugged in the keyboard, mouse, SD Card, and power then watched as RaspBMC spent about 15 minutes downloading parts and installing. There ware a couple of reboots as well.

I walked away expecting the install to take a long time, grabbed a coffee, and came back to see XBMC waiting for me to set it up.

First came pointing at my 8 terabyte NAS (with about 5 TB of videos) and it started scanning the files, grabbing info from iMDB including fanart etc. I knew that would take a long time so I started browsing videos. I started watching some 1080HD videos and was immensely impressed when they played flawlessly despite the background scanning and downloading. The mouse movement was somewhat jerky in menus but nothing close to game stopping. I'll have to see today if the background scanning was a big contributor or not.

Set up the pictures folder and that worked quite fast - some are HUGE jpgs directly from my Canon T1i yet the thumbnails came up almost as fast as they do on my Dual core NPVR box.

Next I realized I hadn't set the screen resolution - it defaulted to 1920x1280 - so I dropped that to 1920x1080. XBMC doesn't seem to have changed the screen res to match the videos I was playing so I got letterboxing. With the 1080 setting they look better. I'll have to check into this later.

I'm very impressed so far - RaspBMC hasn't required any kind of work on my part beyond normal XBMC setting. If the NPVR add-on works this easily then I'll probably replace my current dual cord PC client machine with the RPi. Way less power, far less heat (my bedroom gets stinkin' hot with the laptops, two PCs, 42" LCD TV and Wii U/2TB USB Drive running all day.

I bought the RPi for playing with, not actually to be an NPVR Client. I didn't really think it would play videos so well. Guess I may be buying another RPi next week to actually play with.

  EPG Bulk Map not working
Posted by: crook038 - 2013-02-17, 03:14 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (11)

First and foremost I would like to thank all the people that have worked hard to make NPVR such a great front/back end, it is a great product. I have been setting up NPVR for several weeks and thru reading the helpful setup posts from everyone I am almost done. I am able to view video, hear audio, change channels almost instantaneously, record current shows as well as setup recordings for future date/time. I have installed the current NPVR 2.5.9 Patches R2 but my last problem is Bulk Mapping the EPG. I have a SiliconDust HomeRun Prime with a FIOS cable card. I have scanned the channels and have over 400 channels found.
I have setup mc2XL and can map each channel individually and correctly to the specified channel. The problem happens when I try to Bulk Map, as I go thru the process I am asked, "Would you like the application to have a go at auto mapping the rest of the channels?" Once I click yes I can see that it begins to process but once it is done I see no difference in the bulk channel remap screen or the settings screen. I am running windows 8 Pro and have allowed the appropriate programs thru the microsoft firewall. I have zipped and attached the NPVR logs. If anyone can shed some light on this issued I would appreciate the help. Thank you in advance.

EPG not showing red after update
Posted by: Nistrod - 2013-02-17, 12:14 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

This problem seems to have re-appeared on 2.5.9: http://forums.nextpvr.com/showthread.php...recordings.

If I leave NextPVR open overnight, the display typically does not show shows to be recorded in red. The timeline is red, but not the shows themselves.
It will let me set another recording on the same show.
The shows do record, but I have to stop and start NextPVR to get things displaying correctly again.
I assume the trigger is the EPG update at 2am.

There was a patch that fixed it in 2.0.3, but it seems to have re-appeared.
In the screenshot, Downton Abbey Encore is supposed to record.

As a possibly related note, nDroid has the same issue - shows to be recorded are not highlighted.

Any suggestions?

Live TV issue - 2 seconds of video, then black screen w/audio only and OSD
Posted by: baj1 - 2013-02-16, 08:44 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (8)

Title says it all. We have not been using our NPVR PC playback (it hasn't even had a monitor on it), so I just noticed this issue. Now I'm trying to get it set-up to play through our Samsung TV via HDMI and found this issue.

The Live TV starts and I see video for ~2 seconds, then the screen turns black and the audio and OSD stay on as long as I care to listen (I think the OSD goes away on my PCH's).

I read a few other threads, and tried the Arcsoft H.264 decoder, but that didn't make a difference.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks,
-Brad

What causes ghosting on collossus recording?
Posted by: txinga - 2013-02-16, 03:11 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

Every now and then on a recording I get what I can only describe as ghosting. I'm running the 2.5.9 release of nPVR with DirecTV connected to my collosus via HDMI. I'm using VMR9. Not particularly partial to any decoders, heck I don't even know the differences. The recording will play with the ghosting on the main PC or any client, PC or NMT. I haven't found a pattern yet except it does seem to do it more often on the long recordings like a football game.

NEWA Blue Artifacts insteda of TV-Guide
Posted by: viking4dk - 2013-02-16, 02:24 PM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (4)

I have for quite some time now often experienced blue areas instead of TV-guides for various TV-channels in NEWA.

Same thing for several PC's and for 3 different browsers (Chrome, Firefox and IE). The areas may move when updating the EPG.

Foto example, nPVR-log and Web-log attached.

Im running the newest nPVR with Fixpack2.

So far I have not been able to see any systematic in the showing, except that it often shows 2-3mm of the program guide just before the blue area. This is shown in the attached foto.

Any ideas ?
