Can anyone confirm that Viasat's smartcards are not paired with the decoder box?

Low Profile HD PVR card recommendations?
Posted by: SFX Group - 2012-11-30, 02:27 AM - Forum: Hardware - Replies (6)

Hi

I would normally use Hauppauge only, however the only HD card i can find is the colossus, and its not low profile.... anyone have any other recommendations that will be just as good as the Hauppauge that has a hardware encoder?

Has to be an internal card so anything USB wont really do.

Anyone use a Powerline Ethernet Adaptor kit?
Posted by: pcostanza - 2012-11-30, 02:20 AM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (9)

I've finally gotten a decent TV in the bedroom and don't have ethernet upstairs and my wireless is good, just not good enough for HD streaming. I've read lots about the powerline adapters and it seems good but expensive. Good reviews but I'd rather trust someone on this forum than a normal review.

Anyone got any version of these? If so, what's the verdict?

  how does RecordingService.ArchiveRecording work exactly?
Posted by: reven - 2012-11-30, 12:48 AM - Forum: Developers - Replies (4)

Hi does anyone know how

RecordingService.ArchiveRecording()

works exactly?

I'm wanting to be able to move a entire group of recordings (ie all recordings in a folder, like "Stargate") to another recording directory. This directory might contain 10 (or 100 or whatever) recordings.

Can I just call RecordingService.ArchiveRecording() for every item to move, and that will queue them up to be moved?

Also if that is the case, what happens if during the move I request they be moved again?

eg first I move 10 Stargate recordings to "Tv Shows" recording directory
then I decide I want to move them to "SciFI Tv Shows" whilst its moving number 5.

Does it just wait until that move is finish then reprocess the 10 to move again? (or just add the new 10 to the list of moves, so it has 15 moves in the list, 5 of which will be to the old location)

I noticed there is a .CurrentlyArchiving() method which returns true/false which I could use if ArchiveRecording doesnt work that way at all (ie make my own queue and call .CurrentlyArchiving() every few seconds to move to the next item to move).

TIA

can't lock on signal recording error but it sometimes works (intermittent problem)
Posted by: monalisa - 2012-11-29, 10:54 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

I am using latest version of Nextpvr, with Sabrent USB Clear QAM dongle. Works great, I get lots of channels, and live tv works great too - love the interface and this forum. However, it has a problem, but only sometimes, when it is supposed to record something. It shows the recording in the TV Recordings, but it shows it as nothing recorded due to "can't lock signal" error. But the problem is intermittent, and it is random even on the same channel at the exact same time of day. Sometimes it records fine on that channel, and sometimes it doesn't. If I actually tune to that channel in live tv, it works just great - only a problem for recordings. Discovery channel has been particularly problematic (although yesterday, it recorded 8 shows on Discovery without incident).
Anyone have a clue? I AM using XP (so thought maybe I needed to do the DVB patch I have read about), but since things are working a lot of the time, I hate to tinker if not necessary and screw up what is working.
I haven't touched the hardware or software in between times when it works or doesn't, but I DID leave it tuned to Discovery in LiveTV yesterday before I left it to record and it was successful. Hoping that isn't the solution...
Thanks for any suggestions. BTW - I am a little but not wildly technical, so please be gentle in your responses.

  XMLTV and extended ASCII
Posted by: pipodeclown - 2012-11-29, 06:55 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (1)

Hello all,

I am not completely new to NextPVR, because I used GB-PVR in the past.
Everything installed just perfectly except for the XMLTV file.
I got an error that there was an invalid char at a certain position.
So I opened the xml in a editor and it became clear that it was character "ï" ALT 139

Is this error a problem that can be solved in future versions or should I start looking for a workaround?
Because each time I update my XMLTV.xml, the extended ASCII character will be there again and needs to be deleted/edited.
Because when the error occurs the EPG data will not be updated.

  Digital Cable?
Posted by: nate5532 - 2012-11-29, 05:44 AM - Forum: Kodi / XBMC - Replies (3)

I have been lurking on the forums for a while, and finally had an opportunity to see if I have found a WMC replacement. My goal is to have this run as a backend for XBMC. I got nextpvr working in xbmc, but I noticed that all of my digital cable channels are not available. When I added my HDHR, it found all 3 tuners, but each tuner only found 540 channels. My cable company doesn't start the digital channels until the 1000's.

I guess my question is does the nextpvr support digital cable channels in its current state? Or have I perhaps overlooked something?

I am running v. 2.5.9. I couldn't find my log files anywhere, so if they would be of use to the question please instruct me on how to find them (there was no log file/foler within my x86/NPVR folder).

I thank you in advance for a reply and all of your hard work!

Nate

  kindle Fire HD?
Posted by: drbenjamin - 2012-11-29, 05:05 AM - Forum: nDroid - Replies (6)

Hi All

Just wanted to check if there's an easy way to get ndroid on the Kinde Fire HD? I'd rather not hack my device, and I couldn't find it on the Amazon app store. Any chance of making it available on Amazon, or is tat a headache?

Cheers!

  Status Gone After 1.30
Posted by: toricred - 2012-11-29, 04:39 AM - Forum: NextPVR Enhanced Web Admin (NEWA) - Replies (1)

I installed 1.30 last night and now NTray, and NPVR no longer show the list of tuners and their status. In addition the NEWA Statistics no longer shows anything but the drive space stuff. Any suggestions?

Edit: Never mind. I reset the Nrecord service a third time and it started working again.

  MediaMVP and NextPVR
Posted by: jerry430 - 2012-11-29, 02:31 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (4)

I have four MediaMVPs connected to my PC and love Comskip. Due to their incompatibility with NextPVR, I opted to stay with GBPVR several years ago. I've only visited this site a few times during that time.

I'm about to retire my old PC, which has a PVR-150. I ordered a new PC and also a PVR-1800, as the new machine will accept PCI express only.

My question: Has anything changed with NextPVR regarding its incompatibility with the MVP & Comskip? I'd like to stay current, but if it means that I have to junk my MVPs, I'll stick with GBPVR (which continues to work flawlessly).

Thanks
