Feature Request: Send WOL packet to server.
Posted by: gEd - 2012-05-10, 12:04 AM - Forum: nDroid - Replies (1)

J. River media centre has a really cool Andrioid and iOS client that automatically sends a WOL magic packet to the server and then makes multiple re-connection attempts.
This is really useful when you are in bed and watch to review what's on tv (or even away from the house if the packet can be routed through a firewall)

Feature request: Left & right swipe to move between channels.
Posted by: gEd - 2012-05-09, 11:58 PM - Forum: nDroid - Replies (3)

I think it would improve the user experience if one can move between channels by swiping left and right instead of having to select the channel icon.

Put same metadata in recordings as in npvr.db3
Posted by: Zogg - 2012-05-09, 08:34 PM - Forum: Wishlist - Replies (7)

Hello, I am a long-time BeyondTV user now looking to use an HDHR-Prime for my non-broadcast channels. My plan is to use NPVR to do my recordings with the Prime, then convert them to watch in BTV. I have BTV and several BTV Link licenses in use, and with this method there is no transition for the family to deal with. I may give up BTV in the future but not for now.

I have written a VBS script to take the metadata and convert it to the format that BTV wants. However, I have found that the XML file generated automatically with StoreSeparateMetadataXml=true in config.xml is not quite the same as the metadata you can get by extracting it from npvr.db3 using sqlite3. In particular, the channel data is different and the original air date and genre are not in the automatically generated file.

Just wondering if the missing items could be added to the recording metadata in the next release of NPVR? This would make the metadata more consistent either way you get it, and would also make getting all the data a bit easier.

Either way, NPVR is great and I appreciate all the hard work!

  Genre Coloring Stopped Working
Posted by: Pat Clark - 2012-05-09, 08:17 PM - Forum: TV Listings - Replies (4)

I applied all the NPVR patches to 2.4.3 and genre coloring stopped working. Replaced TV Listings files and still not working. Genre colors are defined. Other xml file changes are working, such as directional arrows (whatever they're called).

Recording Service Crashes and Won't Restart
Posted by: mikeh49 - 2012-05-08, 11:35 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (16)

Need some help on this.

From the beginning: wireless router damaged in lightning storm leaving only one port working. No internet for HTPC. Installed spare Westell router and HTPC with original static ip address (on the correct subnet) would not connect. Changed to dynamic address and still would not connect. Futzed around with a TCP/IP stack "repair" using netsh winsock reset and netsh int ip reset. Finally got it to work by manually specifying the gateway address. NPVR was OK during this time. New Linksys router arrived and after installing, the HTPC would again not connect. Went through some more dynamic vs static address switching, and it finally connected. Has been OK since. There were other problems with the firewire devices disappearing, but some repairs and fiddling have them back, and they seem to be stable. Now, NPVR is sick.

The recording service dies when the machine wakes for a recording, and then cannot be restarted (the service, the computer seems to be fine). From the Services applet, a start request gives an Error 1067 Process terminated unexpectedly. From the NPVR start the service command, it gets a timeout message eventually. The event viewer reports the service stopped. There is some xml info I can provide if needed.

After a period (hours, at least) the service can be restarted, watch live TV etc. Then, when the HTPC sleeps and subsequently wakes to record, the service dies. Others have reported that a corrupt config.xml caused the 1067 error, so I deleted it to start over, but no help. This started with version 2.3.6, so I upgraded to 2.4.3 with the same results. Leads me to believe the problem is Windows rather than NPVR.

So, logs attached with what looks like an internal network problem. Windows firewall is off and there are no other firewalls. Hope somebody can point me in the right direction. (I probably should have reinstalled Win7, it would have taken less time than I have spent so far.)

  Cannot connect
Posted by: h00ch - 2012-05-08, 08:39 PM - Forum: nDroid - Replies (23)

I've installed and have the service running on my PC and I installed the app. The web server is running in NPVR and I have the port open on my router. I've also entered the IP of my PC running NPVR and the username/password on my phone, but after saving the settings on the phone, the nDroid app just does nothing, like it's trying to connect but can't. The Android with the "n" on his chest is standing there staring at me and the circle is spinning below him endlessly...

Device Setup for New Zealand Waikato (Te Aroha)
Posted by: Buster - 2012-05-08, 08:19 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

I think our frequencies have changed here today.

I had no luck scanning with 'Waikato (Te Aroha)'.

I tried 'All Regions' and found the TV channels
Frequencies found were 578000, 562000, 594000.

EPG Collector

I've upgraded to 3.2 and found 562 MHz in the 'Auckland - infill' area, and was able to collect the EPG and update in NextPVR.

Can watch but not record a channel
Posted by: Pat Clark - 2012-05-08, 01:56 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (16)

I frequently get no tuner available when record, but watch works fine.

Record works most of the time. The case tonight was recording a digital (QAM) channel but would not record an analog channel, but it would let me watch it. In this case, I rebooted, the in-process recording restarted automatically, but the problem remained.

Possibly related issue: using Hauppage 2250, two analog/digital tuners. When I first installed NPVR this card showed up as 4 devices. Now the digital devices show up twice for a total of 6. When I noticed that, I proceeded to scan the "new" ones as well, since they showed zero channels, but in fact copied the the other device's channels when asked. Normally when I run into something like this I would reinstall, but I'm afraid I'll lose all my channel mappings, which took a long time.

Disable Sony Vaio XP media center
Posted by: lschroeder - 2012-05-07, 05:44 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - No Replies

Tryiing to use Sony media center remote to type view guide with live tv. Guide button also starts WMC 2004. Sony's Vaio versions of services only has Media Center Schedules Services. Not sure if I need to turn off some other Sony services since no other Media Center Services are listed?

Is there another way to get around this problem?

Edit: Possible Solution follows. Any comments on what I did? It seems to work.

Use Run... services.msc, stop the following services if necessary and then Disabled
Media Center Scheduler Service
Sony TV Tuner Controller
Sony TV Tuner Manager
Sony TVTA Manager

Use Run... msconfig
Selective Startup
unchecked ehtray under Startup Items

Rebooted machine. Dialog warning about msconfig chanages, I set to not show.
