  Multiple recording drives
Posted by: agerdin - 2012-05-16, 04:46 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (7)

Hi, is it possible to define multiple recording drives/paths? What I want is that if the primary recording disk gets full, recordings are instead made to another drive/path. The NPVR settings only allows to setup one path for recordings.

Thanks,

EPG Update Deletes Recordings from Database
Posted by: mikeh49 - 2012-05-15, 07:16 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

My recordings "disappear" following an automatic epg update. The recording-backup.xml is essentially empty. I can re-import them from a older version of recording-backup. I created a new recordings folder, and the two new recordings in that folder were not missing following an update.

I'm thinking this is related to my previously reported problem of access to the recordings folder being denied to Nrecord (started at the same time). Nrecord runs the epg update, and since it can't access the recordings folder, assumes there aren't any recordings, so deletes them from the database and creates an empty backup file.

If this is correct, then I'd like to move the recordings to a new folder. Best way to do this? Move, then edit the database? With 60 recordings, kind of a pain and liable to mistakes.

If logs would help, I can reproduce and post them.

  Programs: HULU Desktop
Posted by: McBainUK - 2012-05-15, 12:50 PM - Forum: Add-ons (3rd party plugins, utilities and skins) - Replies (1)

Pat Clark Wrote:I installed and added a shortcut to HULU Desktop as specified.

Hulu starts just fine with mouse double click, but Programs stays at "Launching..."

When exiting Hulu, Programs is still at Launching. Right click menu allows access to Main Menu, but Programs is still "occupied" with Launching. NPVR is still running, but not extensively tested. NPVR exit clears things up.
Programs is not really occupied with Launching, it's just left the screen like that ready for you to press OK/Back on the remote (enter/escape on the keyboard) to return to the Programs list.

Thinking about it now, I think that the phrase "Launching..." was the wrong thing to have on this screen.

  Unable to find capture device????
Posted by: steeb - 2012-05-14, 09:48 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (13)

Dear all,

new server rebuild.......

XP MCE....

Have gotten over the fact that NextPVR is still not able to find the DXRuntimes that are definitely installed on this box...

Don't need hardware rendering anyway as it is just a box feeding thin clients

After adding more than one DVB device to the system consistently got the message "unable to find capture device" for any scanned channel on any device.

So un-installed NextPVR, total wipe clean and then started with just one device.

Hauppauge HVR1100 happened to be my choice...

Still getting unavailable tuner error message even though I just scanned the channels and it found them....

What have I forgotten here?

Probably more than I remember Wink

This is not trying to run through a thin client just on the server direct...

and BTW don't like this latest v of 7Z it does not allow archiving of log files in XP with NextPVR running... Big Grin

back to winzip for me

Wink

[Edit] Not sure if it matters but on the server have installed SAF6 for codecs. And all latest patches from Mr Johnson... [End Edit]

cheers all

Shows not recording for some reason...
Posted by: big3b69 - 2012-05-14, 11:43 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

I have been having an issues a couple of times a week, where I set Npvr to record shows and when I get off work, all of the shows have a yellow 'x'. Last night I tired to record 27.2, simpsions, family guy, american dad, and bob's burger's, which run from 1900 - 2100. I am hoping that someone can see something. Usually it was just on Monday night, but it has started on other nights now.

  NPVR Web Server crashes (?)
Posted by: Ijaja - 2012-05-13, 12:21 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (16)

Hi,

to start and cancel records i use the web server. Sometimes this one crashes. Eventually the web server ist not available anymore. Then i have to restart the recording service again.
I am not sure, what is really happening. The icon in the taskbar is available and usable still, but is very slow.
Any ideas, or does anyone know this problem?

  Avoid duplicate recordings (NZ)
Posted by: Jaggy - 2012-05-12, 04:56 AM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (16)

I read a message the other day on geekszone that in NZ the tivo was able to avoid recording dups from at least TVNZ7 which got me to looking at my tvguide.xml & I discovered it now has things like this in it.
<episode-num system="xmltv_ns">1014022 . 10269880 . </episode-num>

Could this be used to stop it recording dups for us??

  MVP Stutter and stop
Posted by: steeb - 2012-05-12, 12:09 AM - Forum: MVP & NMT - Replies (4)

Dear all,

numpty back again.... Big Grin

Also realise that MVP is no longer supported and that I have advised others of this on this forum

To be clear I am not after any permanent fix all's or changes as am in process of moving all thin clients to NMT's but that may take me a little while... (Time is not my friend at the moment).

The problem is that I think I have forgotten as much as I knew about setting up a NextPVR system as I remember.

MVPMC dongle booting up a treat (remembered that bit!)

LiveTV is the problem. Stutter and then often drop out.

Think I have the right dongle. Boots: Oct 30 2011

I have sniffed around the forum and may have missed something.

Does it matter what MpgMUX I have reg'd?

Have about 8 to hand and gone through most of them....

cheers all. Hope that all is well in NextPVR extender land.

Haali Splitter seems to be a bad actor
Posted by: Pat Clark - 2012-05-11, 10:57 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (3)

I was having sound problems with Live TV, or at least watching from guide listing -- is that the same thing? Sound would stutter, be WAY out of sync or completely silent if "pause + play" cure was used.

I decide to uninstall ffdshow and Haali, which were pretty old, and find new versions. Then I got a new version of ffdshow (called ffdshow tryout) and sound problems disappeared using ffdshow for all audio, including AC3.

But I also then tried an MKV file, and it would not play, of course. So I installed latest version of Haali, and MKVs would play, but sound problems on Live TV returned. Uninstalled Haali and sound problems remained. Uninstalled ffdshow and reinstalled and sound problems fixed again. It's as if Haali messed around with ffdshow or system settings somewhere.

FWIW, I noticed when sound was not working right, that playing a video, the start process was "smooth." But when "watch" was used from the Guide, NPVR did a "double clutch" (showing my age there!). It would start "immediately" and then stop for 1/4 second or so, start the video again and then the sound a short while later. Now, with the sound working well, it starts smoothly, just like videos do.

Right now ffdshow is handling AC3, but I haven't configured it to output the way I want yet, but I did specify 5.1 during the install. I haven't verified it's actually outputting 5.1.

  Adding a channel manually?
Posted by: gonzo90017 - 2012-05-11, 10:17 PM - Forum: Legacy (v4.x and earlier) - Replies (6)

Is there a way to add a ATSC channel manually? I don't really want to have to setup my EPG again...
